Detailed Guide to Crocheting Beautiful Berets: Violet and Black-and-White Variations

Head Circumference

52-56 cm

You'll Need

  • 100 g of violet or 50 g of white and 50 g of black yarn Schachenmayr Original Miracle (88% cotton, 12% polyester, 50g/145m);
  • Crochet hook size 4.

Placket Ornament

On a chain of chain sts, make single crochet in spiraling circles, i.e., don't finish the circle; crochet with single crochets continuously.
Mark the beginning of the circle row with contrast yarn.

Ornament from Arches

The quantity of sts is multiplied by 7. Crochet according to the scheme. Make chain st increase in the beginning of the row before the first single crochet, and make the needed quantity of chain sts increase before 1 double crochet. Finish each row with 1 slip st in the marked chain st of increase.

Stitches Control

14 sts and 9 rows = 9 x 9 cm.

Violet Beret

The beret is crocheted in circle rows from bottom to up. Make a chain of 91 chain sts and 4 rows with placket ornament. Finish the 4th row with 1 slip st in the first st. Then crochet according to the scheme. Make from the 1st to the 6th rows 3 times, then from the 1st to the 3rd rows once. For the top of your beret, make decreases for the 7th-15th rows. Cut the yarn. Draw the end of yarn through the rest of the sts with a tambour needle and tighten. Fasten the yarn.

Black-and-White Beret

Crochet in the same way as the violet beret. Crochet the set-up chain with black yarn. Make the placket ornament with white yarn, then crochet with arches ornament, rotating 1 row of black yarn with 1 row of white yarn.
