Knitting Instructions for a Lilac Beret with 100% Wool Yarn

You’ll Need:

100g of 100% wool yarn of lilac color (100m/50g);

Circle knitting needles 5 with 60 cm fishing line;

Double-pointed knitting needles 5.

Head Circumference:

54-58 cm.

Used Patterns

• 2 x 2 rib;
• Stockinette stitch: in RS row – knit sts, in WS – purls;
• Cables: the quantity of sts is multiplied by 12, work according to the scheme around.
  One pattern repeat is shown on the scheme with all circle rows. Make the pattern repeat x 4 times, one on each knitting needle. After 28 circle rows, the pattern repeat is 36 sts wide. After 40 circle rows – 28 sts wide.

Start working according to the instructions, then make 5^th to 40^th circle rows once.

Stitches Control:

18 sts x 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions

Start from the center of the crown from up to down.

Cast on 12 sts with double-pointed knitting needles and divide them on 4 needles, circle the row.

Row Instructions:

1^st row: 12 knit sts;

2^nd row: double the quantity of sts by means of making 2 sts out of 1 – 1 knit st and 1 cross knit st (= 24 sts);

3^rd row: 24 knit sts;

4^th row: double the quantity of sts by means of making 2 sts out of 1 – 1 knit st and 1 cross knit st (= 48 sts);

5^th row: make cable pattern, increase the sts according to the scheme, turn to circle knitting needles.

After making 28 circle rows (= 11.5 cm from the 1^st row), you’ll get the half height of the ready-made hat. Total quantity of sts at this stage = 144 sts.

At the 31^st row (= 13 cm), beret circumference = 80 cm.

Make decreases in every pattern repeat according to the scheme, starting from the 34^th row.

At the 40^th row (= 16.5 cm), the quantity of sts = 112 sts.

Make a placket with rib pattern for 5 cm, bind off the sts according to the ornament.
