Crochet Baby Set: Hood and Collar Instructions

You’ll Need:

1 (2) skeins of Berna Softee Baby Chunky yarn (100% acrylic; 142m/140g) in grey color;

1 skein of the same yarn in blue color;

Crochet hook 8.

2 buttons with 2.5 mm diameter.

Instructions

Collar

Make 54 (60) chain stitches with grey yarn.

1st row (RS): 1 single crochet in the 2nd chain stitch from the crochet hook, * 1 chain stitch, skip the next chain stitch, 1 single crochet in the next chain stitch*; repeat from * to *, turn = 53 (59) stitches;

2nd row: 1 chain stitch, 1 single crochet in the 1st single crochet, 1 single crochet in the next chain stitch, * 1 chain stitch, skip the next single crochet, 1 single crochet in the next chain stitch*; repeat from * to * to last single crochet, 1 single crochet in the last single crochet of the lower row, turn;

3rd row: 1 chain stitch, 1 single crochet in the 1st single crochet, * 1 chain stitch, skip the next single crochet, 1 single crochet in the next chain stitch*; repeat from * to * to last 2 stitches, 1 chain stitch, skip the next single crochet, 1 single crochet in the last single crochet of the lower row, turn;

4th row: as 2nd row.

Repeat the last 2 rows to 12.5 (15) cm height, finish your work from the wrong side.

Hood

Join the grey yarn to the 8th chain stitch of the previous row.

1st row: 1 chain stitch, 1 single crochet in the 1st chain stitch, * 1 chain stitch, skip the next single crochet, 1 single crochet in the next chain stitch*; repeat from * to * to last 4 stitches, turn, leave these 4 stitches unfinished = 35 (39) stitches.

2nd row: 1 chain stitch, 1 single crochet in the 1st single crochet, 1 single crochet in the next chain stitch, * 1 chain stitch, skip the next single crochet, 1 single crochet in the next chain stitch*; repeat from * to * to last stitch, 1 single crochet, turn;

3rd row: 1 chain stitch, 1 single crochet in the 1st single crochet, * 1 chain stitch, skip the next single crochet, 1 single crochet in the next single crochet*; repeat from * to * to last 2 stitches, 1 chain stitch, 1 single crochet in the last single crochet, turn;

4th row: as 2nd row.

Repeat the last 2 rows to 20.5 (23) cm height, finish your work on the wrong side.

Fold the hood in half right side inwards and make a seam.

Fastening

Join the blue yarn from the right side to the lower right corner of the hood using a slip stitch, 1 chain stitch, and 1 circular row of single crochets along the edge of the collar and hood, slip stitch in the 1st chain stitch.

Sew the buttons.
