Comprehensive Guide to Knitting a Stylish Hat and Cowl Set for All Sizes

Measurements

Head Circumference: 56-58 cm

Height of the Hat: 26 cm

You'll Need

  • Nako Jersey yarn (74m/100g) - 1 skein
  • Knitting needles - 7 mm

Instructions

Cast on 30 sts and knit 1-2 rows with garter st to the end.

Start the 3rd row with short rows, i.e., start with 1 selvedge st, 23 knit sts, and leave 6 sts slipped.

To avoid making a hole between the 24th and 25th sts, slip the 25th st (it's the first from the slipped sts) on the right-hand needle, working the needle to the back of the st, then working the needle in front of your work, and return this st on the left-hand needle.

Turn your work and make 24 knit sts. For the next row: 1 selvedge st, 24 knit sts, and leave 5 sts slipped. At the place where you slip the working thread into the slip st, you will see a "step" from 2 sts.

Make a winding with the working thread, then at the 26th st, turn your work and knit on the wrong side 25 knit sts. Knit to the last st on the left-hand needle.

You have made the first cam of your hat.

Then, start the next row the same way as the 3rd row described above, etc.

Make 7 cams in the same way.

Total width should be 46 cm. In the end, make 2 rows with knit sts on all 30 sts and bind off all the sts.

Cowl

Size: 32 cm in height

Head Circumference: 56 cm

Make your cowl with garter st in width direction. Cast on 32 sts and knit 56 cm with garter st, bind off the sts and sew the ends.
