You'll Need

  • 300 g of section coloring yarn (80% acrylic, 10% wool, 10% mohair, 550m/100g)
  • Circle knitting needle size 2 and 5

Stitches Used

Stockinette Stitch

Right side rows - knit sts, wrong side rows - purls.

1 x 1 Rib

Right side rows - rotate 1 knit st, 1 purl. Knit wrong side rows due to the pattern.

Relief Pattern

Cast on the quantity of sts multiplied by 6 + 1 st for symmetry and 2 selvedge sts.

Pattern Rows

  • 1, 2, 5, 6 rows: all knit sts;

  • 3 and 7 rows: knit all sts with triple knit sts (knit st, swirl the working thread on the needle 3 times and pull through the st);

  • 4 row: * 1 purl, knit 5 sts from 5*, 1 purl (5 sts of 5: cast on 5 sts on the right needle, throw yo and turn to the left needle beforehand. Knit 5 sts together as knit st);

  • 8 row: knit 3 sts from 3, * 1 purl, knit 5 sts from 5*, 1 purl, knit 3 sts from 3.

Instructions for Beret

Cast on 90 sts on knitting needles size 2 and knit for 5 cm with stockinette stitch. Continue knitting with the relief pattern on knitting needles size 5. When the height reaches 15 cm from the set-up edge, start to bind off 20 sts in every 3rd row. Knit until there are 5 sts left on the needles. Tightly draw the sts together with thread and sew up the back seam of the beret.

Instructions for Cowl

Cast on 87 sts on knitting needles size 5 and knit for 160 cm using the relief pattern. Make a seam. Cast on additional sts and knit with 1 x 1 rib along one of the outer edges of the cowl.
