​Knit Vest For a Girl

You'll need: 

100% acryl yarn – 100g/300m;

Knitting needles 3.

Size: 8-9 years

Instructions

Knit 2 x 2 rib, 1st row - 2 knit st, rotate with 2 purls;

2nd and all the even rows are knitted due to the ornament (knit sts above knit sts, purls above purls);

3rd row: 2 purls, 2 knit sts (run right hand needle from right to left into the second knit st and pull the yarn into your working side in about 1 cm, knit first st as knit, then drop both sts from left-hand needle). Repeat 3rd and 4th rows.

Relief ornament of knit vest with wrapping st. The quantity of sts is multipled 4 + 2 selvedge sts.:
1st row: 2 knit sts, 2 purls;

2nd and all the even rows: knit due to the ornament (knit sts above knit sts, purls above purls);

3rd row: from right side of vest pull working yarn towards yourselves between 6th and 7th sts with right-hand needle, knit it with 1st knit st and drop from the left-hand needle. Knit 1 knit st, 2 purls inside the clasp, after clasp - 2 purls, repeat to end of row;

4th and 6th rows: knit due to the ornament;

7th row: 2 knit sts, 2 purls, clasp and knit 6 sts as in the 3rd row;

8th and 10th rows: knit due to the ornament (knit sts above knit sts, purls above purls);

11th row: repeat the ornament from the 3rd row.

Stitches control: rib with drawn st: 22 rows, 20 sts = 10 x 10 cm. Relief ornament: 23 rows, 22 sts = 10 x 10 cm. 2 x 2 rib: 21 row, 20 sts = 10 x 10 cm.

Back

Cast on 68 sts, knit 26 rows with rib with drawn st (about 11,5 cm), then continue working with relief ornament. As the previous ornament starts with 2 purls, relief ornaments also starts with 2 purls, then make a clasp st and then due to the ornament. In 14 rows (about 7 cm) of the ornament start making decreases of 1 st in the end of every row. Knit 20 rows with decreases (about 8,5 cm), there are 48 sts left. Knit 46 rows to the neck hole line, then bind off 24 sts of neck hole, 12 sts for each shoulder. Bind off the sts for neck hole (12 sts from left side and 12 sts from right side) and bind them off in 3 parts (7 + 3 + 2). Bind off 47 sts of shoulder from left side and 48 sts from right side.

Front

Front part is made in the same way as backm but with more deeper cut for the neck hole. Bind off 37 rows and main 8 sts and knit separately, decreasing 8 more sts from centre (3 + 2+ 3*1). Bind off shoulder sts in 47th and 48th rows.

"Wings"

Cast on 90 sts and knit with rib with drawn sts, decreasing 1 st in the end of every row, make 22 rows. In 23rd and 24th rows decrease 2 sts in each, in 25th and 26th rows - decrease 3 sts in each, there are 60 sts left. Bind off all the sts.

Colar

Cast on 90 sts and knit with 25 rows of rib (about 12 cm). Bind off sts, without tightening them.

Assembly

Make side and shoulder seams, sew "wings" and sew the colar to the neck hole.
