How to Knit a Stylish Lilac Polaris Yarn Sweater



You’ll Need:
500g of lilac Polaris yarn (70% merino wool, 30% acrylic; 100m/50g);
Knitting needles 4.5 and 5;
Auxiliary needle;
Zipper 35 cm long.

Double Rib
Cast on half of the needed quantity of stitches with contrast yarn.
1st row: with working yarn *1 knit stitch, 1 yarn over*; repeat from * to *;
2nd row: *yarn over as knit stitch, slip 1 purl without knitting, yarn in front of work*; repeat from * to *;
3rd and the following rows: *1 knit stitch, slip 1 purl, yarn in front of work*; repeat from * to *, take off the contrast yarn in the ready-made detail.
2 x 2 Rib
Stockinette Stitch
In RS row – knit stitches, in WS row – purls.
Wrong-Side Pattern
In RS row – purls, in WS row – knit stitches.
Stripes Order
*3 rows of stockinette stitch, 3 rows of wrong-side pattern*.
Cable Pattern
8 stitches wide.
1st, 3rd, 5th, and 9th rows: 1 purl, 2 knit stitches, 2 purls, 2 knit stitches, 1 purl;
2nd and all even rows: as stitches face;
7th row: 1 purl, cross 6 stitches to the right (leave 2 knit stitches on the 1st auxiliary needle behind work, leave 2 purls on the 2nd auxiliary needle behind work, 2 knit stitches, purls from the 2nd auxiliary needle, knit stitches from the 1st auxiliary needle), 1 purl.
Repeat 1st-10th rows.
Special Cable
14 stitches wide. Work according to the scheme. Repeat 1st-10th rows.
Stitches Control
20 stitches x 26 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Instructions
Back
Cast on 86 stitches with knitting needles 4.5 and make 4 rows with double rib and 6 rows with 2 x 2 rib. Change to knitting needles 5 and work according to the stripes order. At 68 cm, bind off all stitches.
Right Front
Cast on 52 stitches with knitting needles 4.5 and make 4 rows of double rib and 6 rows with 2 x 2 rib. Change to knitting needles 5 and work as follows: 3 stitches of double rib, 1 purl, 8 stitches of cable, 14 stitches of special cable, 8 stitches of cable, 18 stitches of stripes order. At 62 cm, bind off 1 x 16 stitches from the right side for neck-hole and decrease 8 x 1 stitch in every 2nd row from the right side. At 68 cm, bind off all the rest stitches.
Left Front
Make in symmetry to the right front.
Assembly
Make shoulder seams. For the collar, cast on 83 stitches along the neck-hole with knitting needles 5 and make 20 rows with stripes order and bind off all stitches. For the placket arm-holes, cast on 26 stitches along each arm-hole with knitting needles 4.5 (13 stitches of back and 13 stitches of front) and work with 2 x 2 rib, bind off 3 x 6 stitches in every 2nd row from both sides = 62 stitches. Make 2 rows of double rib and bind off all stitches with kitchener’s stitch. Make side seams and sew in the zipper.
