​Knit Red Vest

You’ll need:

650g of red Baby wool yarn (40% wool, 20% bamboo, 40% acryl; 175m/50g);

Knitting needles 3,5 and 4,5;

Needle for sewing.

Size: L-XL.

Stitches control: 22 sts x 26 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Note: work in 2 threads of yarn.

Back

Cast on 148 sts with knitting needles 3,5 and make 13 rows of 2 x 2 rib, start with 2 knit sts. Then, turn to knitting needles 4,5 and work with fancy pattern. Make purl2tog in the beginning and end of the 1^st row and continue work on 146 sts (= 12 pattern repeats on 12 sts + 2 selvage st). Repeat 3^rd-50^th rows. At 32 cm height, bind off 1 x 5 sts, 1 x 2 sts, 3 x 1 st in every 2^nd row from both sides. Then, crochet straight. At 58 cm height, bind off the central 34 sts for neck-hole and finish each side separately. For smooth rounding, bind off 1 x 3 sts, 1 x 2 sts and 1 x 1 st in every 2^nd row for smooth rounding. At the same time, make shoulder chamfers, bind off 2 x 13 sts and 1 x 14 sts in every 2^nd row. Make the second side in symmetry.

Right Front

Cast on 72 sts with knitting needles 3,5 and make 13 rows of 2 x 2 rib, start with 2 purls. Then, turn to knitting needles 4,5 and work with fancy pattern, increase 1 st in the beginning and end of the 1^st row and continue work with pattern on 74 sts (= 6 pattern repeats of 12 sts + 2 selvage sts). At 32 cm height, bind off 1 x 5 sts, 1 x 2 sts, 3 x 1 st in every 2^nd row from both sides for arm-holes. At the same time, at 32 cm height, start forming neck-hole. Bind off 24 x 1 st in every 3^rd row from the side of neck-hole. At 58 cm height, make shoulder chamfer, bind off 2 x 13 sts and 1 x 14 sts in every 2^nd row.

Left Front

Make in symmetry to the right front.

Assembly

Sew shoulder chamfers, sides of front and back with kitchener’s stitch. Cast on sts along front and neck-hole with knitting needles 3,5 and make 9 rows of 2 x 2 rib. Bind off sts loosely. Make 7 rows of 2 x 2 rib along arm-hole with knitting needles 3,5, bind off sts tightly.
