How to Knit a Vest

Back Piece

1. Cast on 129 stitches with yarn color no. 257. Work in a 4+1 rib throughout knitting.

2. Finish when the body length is 40 cm.

Front Pieces

1. Cast on 64 stitches with yarn color no. 257. Work in a 4+1 rib throughout knitting.

2. When the body length reaches 16 cm, work 5 stitches with yarn no. 219 and the remaining stitches with yarn no. 257 at one end.

3. On every front row, slip 5 stitches finished with yarn no. 219 toward the other side.

4. After working for 8 cm with yarn no. 219, work 5 stitches with yarn no. 257 at the same end.

5. On each subsequent front row, slip 5 stitches finished with yarn no. 257 toward the other side.

6. Continue working once more with yarn no. 257 in the same manner by slipping stitches.

7. Keep working with yarn no. 219 and finish when the body length is 65 cm.

8. Perform chain work with a hook using yarn no. 1182 at color-switch points.

9. To achieve a tartan look, finish by making tacking with a sewing needle.

10. Attach tassels to the hem and front pieces.
