You'll Need:

1/2 skein of KARTOPU BABY COTTON yarn (50% cotton, 50% acryl, 260m/100g);

Double pointed knitting needles size 3;

Frame needle.

Instructions

Cast on the needed quantity of stitches, depending on the foot length (multiple of 4). For a foot measuring 10 cm (appropriate for 3-6 months), cast on 40 stitches.

Next, place 10 stitches on each knitting needle.

Now, let’s start knitting the rib pattern. Alternate between 1 purl and 1 knit stitch around for a total of 20 rows.

Once you've completed the rib, transfer 2 stitches from the second needle to the first needle at the beginning of the row. You should now have 12 stitches on the first knitting needle. This will form the front part of your bootie with a braid.

Braid Knitting Rows

1st row: 2 purls, 8 knit stitches, 2 purls;

2nd row: follow the ornament;

3rd to 6th rows: knit the odd rows according to the scheme, and the even rows according to the ornament;

7th row: 2 purls, transfer 4 knit stitches to an auxiliary needle and leave them behind your work, knit the next 4 stitches, then knit the 4 stitches from the auxiliary needle as knit stitches, followed by 2 purls. Repeat this for a total of 19 rows.

Base Stitch Division

Divide the base stitches as follows: leave 12 stitches for the sole, with 8 stitches on each side needle. Next, pick up the edging stitches from the front part, where the braid is located, with the side needles. You will now have 12 stitches at the front, 12 at the back, and 17 stitches for each side (this is the length of the booties).

Knit approximately 6 rows using knit stitches.

Forming the Pintuck

Now, form what is known as a "pintuck" to help the booties maintain their shape. To do this, knit 3 rows with purls, followed by 3 rows with knit stitches.

Each wrong side stitch corresponds to a knit stitch. To make the pintuck, insert the needle into the edging wrong side stitch, throw it onto the working needle close to the knit stitch, and knit them together. Repeat this process until the end of the row.

Sole

Begin knitting from the toe cap of the bootie by turning your work and knitting purls. Transfer the last stitch onto the non-working side needle and knit them together.

Turn your work to the right side and repeat the same process for the wrong side. Continue knitting the remaining stitches in this manner.

To bind off the stitches, take the frame needle and measure out a length of thread that is twice as long as the width of your booties. Sew the bootie using the Kitchener stitch (stitch in stitch).

For this, insert the frame needle into the first stitch of both the lower and upper rows from bottom to top, then back into the first lower stitch from bottom to top; pull from bottom to top from the second stitch of the lower row and slip the stitch from the knitting needle. Then, insert the frame needle from top to bottom into the edging stitch in the upper row and pull it out from bottom to top from the second stitch of the upper row. Repeat this process, inserting the frame needle from top to bottom in the second stitch of the lower row and from bottom to top in the third stitch. Continue binding off the remaining stitches in a similar manner.
