20 sts x 31 rows = 10 x 10 cm square.
Instructions
Cast on 64 sts and proceed to circular knitting, dividing the sts among 4 knitting needles (16 sts for each needle). Knit 4 cm with ribbing before switching to the relief pattern.
After knitting for 33 cm, start making the heel. This heel construction follows the classic technique suitable for beginner socks. Work with half of the sts (32 sts) using 2 knitting needles. For 20 rows, knit using stockinette stitch on both straight and reversed rows.
Divide the 32 sts for rounding the heel into 3 parts: 11 sts + 10 sts + 11 sts = 32 sts. Continue with the central 19 sts, catching 1 st from each edge in every row.
Knit these sts together with the edging sts of the central part as 1 knit st. You should be left with 10 sts from the central part.
Lift 10 sts from each side of the selvedge sts along the sides of the heel. Incorporate the previously left sts back into the work and turn to circular knitting. Knit the bottom part in stockinette stitch and the upper part using the relief pattern.
Once you have knitted to the height of the little toe, begin making decreases for the toe by knitting 2 edging sts together from both sides.
At the beginning of each row, knit 2 together, and at the end of the row, perform a broaching: slip 1 st as a knit st, knit 1 st, then draw the slipped st through the knitted st. Decrease 4 sts in total per row by following this method.
When only 2 sts remain on each knitting needle, cut the yarn and weave in the ends to finish your project.
