Knitting a Stylish Red Skirt for Children


You’ll Need
100g of yarn (84% cotton, 16% viscose; 225m/100g) in red yarn;
100g of mélange red Tango yarn (100% polyamide; 80m/100g);
Knitting needles 3;
Crochet hook 2.
Size
5 years.
Used Patterns
- 1 x 1 rib;
- Stockinette stitch: in RS row – knit stitches, in WS row – purls.
Stitches Control
20 sts x 25 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Instructions
Cast on 180 sts with knitting needles 3.5 and work with 1 x 1 rib. At 21 cm height, make holes for the cord. For this, make * knit2tog, yarn over*; repeat from * to * to the end of the row. Make 2 rows of 1 x 1 rib and bind off all the sts.
Cast on 15 sts + 2 selvage sts with double Tango yarn and make a stripe of stockinette stitch the same width as the lower edge of the skirt. Bind off the sts and sew the stripe to the lower edge of the skirt.
For the cord, make a chain of chain sts 1 m long and insert the cord through the holes of the upper edge of the skirt.
