How to Knit a Cozy Hooded Sweater for Children


You’ll Need:
600g of light-blue light yarn (48% wool, 52% acryl; 200m/100g);
100g of the same yarn, but in blue color;
Knitting needles size 3.5;
Crochet hook size 3;
5 buttons.
Size:
6 years.

Brioche Pattern:
1st row: * 1 knit stitch, yarn over, slip 1 stitch (yarn behind work)*; repeat from * to *;
2nd row: * yarn over, slip 1 stitch (yarn behind work), make stitch and yarn over of the previous row as knit 2 together*; repeat from * to *;
3rd row: * make stitch and yarn over of the previous row as knit 2 together, yarn over, slip 1 stitch (yarn behind work)*; repeat from * to *.
Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows.
Instructions
Back
Cast on 44 stitches with light-blue yarn and work with brioche. At 51 cm height, bind off all the stitches.
Front
Cast on 22 stitches with light-blue yarn and work with brioche. At 51 cm height, bind off all the stitches. Make another half of the front in symmetry.
Sleeves
Cast on 32 stitches with blue yarn and work with brioche. Change to light-blue yarn at 7 cm height and continue to work with brioche. At 38 cm height from the beginning of the sleeve, bind off all the stitches.
Hood
Cast on 24 stitches with light-blue yarn and work with brioche. At 52 cm height, bind off all the stitches.
Assembly
Make shoulder seams and sew up the sleeves. Make side seams, stepping back 6 cm from the lower edge and make sleeve seams. Sew the hood along the neck hole. Make 4 rows of single crochets along the edges of the front and hood with blue yarn. Make 5 button-loops in the 2nd row of the right front. Sew buttons to the left front. Fasten the bottom of the work with single crochets using blue yarn, starting to crochet 3 cm higher in every stripe of purls. For pockets, make 12 chain stitches with blue yarn and make 14 rows of single crochets. Sew the pockets to the front.
