Knitting Instructions for an S-Sized Shirt Using Mondial Cotton Soft Yarn

You’ll Need:

100g of cream Mondial Cotton Soft yarn (100% cotton; 180m/50g);

50g of the same yarn, but in pink, yellow, beige colors (each);

Knitting needles size 3;

Tapestry needle.

Double Rib:

Cast on half of the needed quantity of stitches with contrast yarn.

1^st row: Working yarn *1 knit stitch, 1 yarn over*; repeat from * to *;

2^nd row: *Make yarn over as knit stitch, slip 1 purl without knitting, yarn in front of work*; repeat from * to *;

3^rd and all following rows: *1 knit stitch, slip 1 purl, yarn in front of work*; repeat from * to *, take off the contrast yarn.

Stockinette Stitch:

In RS row – knit stitches, in WS row – purls.

Stitches Control:

24 stitches x 34 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions

Folds:

Make 12 rows of stockinette stitch for the first fold, making every stitch of the 13^th row together with the corresponding stitch of the 1^st RS row, catching it from WS. Make 20 rows of stockinette stitch for every fold, making every stitch of the 21^st row with the corresponding stitch of the 9^th RS row.

Back:

Cast on 102 stitches with pink yarn and make 12 rows of stockinette stitch. Then, work with folds, alternating the colors in the following way: 36 rows with pink yarn (2 folds), 54 rows with yellow yarn (3 folds). After that, work with stockinette stitch with cream yarn to the end of the work. In 34 cm from the set-up row, bind off 3 stitches from both sides and then make the side 3 stitches of double rib, decreasing 34 x 1 stitch in every 2^nd row after the first 3 stitches and before the last 3 stitches. At 20 cm height of arm-holes, bind off the remaining 28 stitches.

Front:

Make in the same way as back, but starting from the 1^st cream row, increase 66 x 1 stitch from the central 14 stitches from both sides. Meanwhile, decrease 9 x 1 stitch in every 12^th row in 2 stitches from left increases and in 2 stitches of right increases. At 34 cm height, make arm-hole chamfers in the same way as for the back. At 20 cm height of arm-holes, bind off the remaining stitches.

Assembly:

Make one shoulder seam. Cast on 173 stitches along the upper edge of back and front with cream yarn and make 4 rows of double rib, then bind off the stitches. Make the second shoulder seam and side seams. Turn the bottom 6 rows of front and back to WS and sew.
