Step-by-Step Guide to Creating a Beautiful Knitted Top with Straps

You’ll Need

150g of Alpina Holly yarn (100% cotton; 200m/50g) in pink color;

40g of Vita Pelican yarn (100% cotton; 87m/10g) in white color;

Double-pointed knitting needles 1;

Crochet hooks 0.85 and 1.

Size

S-M.

Used Patterns

Knitting Needles

Main motif (make 54 pcs): cast on 16 sts with Alpina Holly yarn using double-pointed knitting needles and make 2 set-up rows (divide all the sts among 4 knitting needles, 4 sts on each needle) with knit sts.

Then, work according to the scheme. Make all the even rows with knit sts. Repeat every pattern from each needle twice. In total, there will be 8 pattern repeats. Bind off all the sts in the 12th row from the beginning of work using the crochet hook.

Crochet Hook

Connecting motif (make 54 pcs): create 8 chain sts with Vita Pelican yarn and circle them into a ring with a slip stitch.

1st row: 8 chain sts (1 chain st increase + 7 chain sts), connect with the main motif, 3 chain sts, 7 chain sts, 1 single crochet in the obtained ring, 5 chain sts, connect with the main motif, 5 chain sts, + 1 single crochet in the obtained ring, 7 chain sts, connect with the main motif, 3 chain sts, 7 chain sts, 1 single crochet in the obtained ring, 5 chain sts, connect with the main motif, 5 chain sts*; repeat from * to * twice, totally, 4 times, slip st.

Stitches Control: 1 main motif = 7.5 cm x 7.5 cm; 1 connecting motif = 4 cm x 4 cm.

Instructions

Connect all the motifs together according to the scheme and pattern design.

Assembly

Join Vita Pelican yarn to the upper edge of the top and work according to the scheme of fastening (1st-4th rows) around. Finish every row with slip stitch.

Straps

Make 2.

Make 33 chain sts (29 chain sts + 3 chain sts increase + 1 chain st).

1st row: 1 double crochet in the 7th chain st from the crochet hook, * 1 chain st, 1 double crochet in the 2nd chain st from the crochet hook*; repeat from * to * x 12 times, totally, 14 times;

2nd row: 3 chain sts increase, 28 double crochets in every st;

3rd row: 4 chain sts (3 chain sts increase + 1 chain st), 1 double crochet in the 2nd double crochet of the previous row from the crochet hook, + 1 chain st, * 1 double crochet in the 2nd double crochet of the previous row from the crochet hook*; repeat from * to * x 12 times, totally, 14 times.

Repeat 2nd-3rd rows.

Finish your work in the 43rd row from the beginning.

Sew straps to the upper edge of the top.
