Knitting Pattern for a Children's Cardigan
You’ll Need:
200g of 100% acryl yarn in dark-apricot color;
Knitting needles 5.5 and 6;
4 buttons;
130 cm of thin velvet lace.
Size:
3 years.
Stitches Control:
Fancy pattern: 13 sts x 18 rows = 10 x 10 cm;
WS garter stitch: 11 sts x 22 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Back
Cast on 44 sts with knitting needles 5.5 and work according to the scheme.
At 21 cm height, continue work with WS garter stitch and knitting needles 6, decrease 8 sts in the 1st row = 36 sts. In 2 cm from patterns change, decrease 3 x 1 st in every 2nd row from both sides for arm-holes. At 37 cm height, bind off 9 sts for each shoulder and 12 sts for neck-hole.Right Front
Cast on 25 sts with knitting needles 5.5 and make 5 sts of WS garter stitch as a fastener, make the rest 20 sts according to the scheme, starting with 3 knit sts instead of 2 purls. At 21 cm height, continue work with knitting needles 6 and WS garter stitch, decrease 4 sts in the 1st row = 21 sts. In 2 cm, make arm-hole in the same way as for back. At 31 cm height, bind off 5 sts, 2 sts and 2 x 1 st in every 2nd row from opposite side. At 37 cm height, bind off 9 sts for shoulder.
Left Front
Make in symmetry to the right front.
Sleeves
Cast on 24 sts with knitting needles 5.5 and work according to the scheme. At 12 cm height, continue work with knitting needles 6 and WS garter stitch, decrease 4 sts in the 1st row = 20 sts. Increase 4 x 1 st in every 6th row from both sides = 28 sts. At 24 cm height, decrease 3 x 1 st in every 2nd row for sleeve caps, then bind off 3 x 2 sts and the rest 10 sts. Total height is about 31 cm.
Assembly
Make all the seams and sew up the sleeves in the arm-holes. For collar, cast on the sts with knitting needles 5.5, leave the sts of fastener’s placket open, make 7 cm of WS garter stitch and bind off the sts. Make 4 button-holes on right front and sew buttons on left front. Insert the lace along the patterns change line.
