Crochet Sweater for Kids – Materials and Instructions

You’ll Need

130g of 100% acryl yarn in crimson, red, green, yellow, and ecru colors each;

Crochet hook 4.5;

Used Patterns

• Fancy patterns: due to the schemes 3 and 4;
• 2 x 2 rib.

Stitches Control

Side of motif = about 10 cm;

13 sts of fancy pattern = 10 cm;

Rib: 11 sts x 14 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions

Back and Front

Make 15 motifs due to the scheme 1 and 4 half-motifs due to the scheme 2, alternating the colors in motifs according to the drawing. Fasten the sides of some motifs for back with 1 row of double crochets using the needed color of yarn. For the central stripe, connect motifs and half-motifs according to the drawing. Make 1 row of double crochets with red yarn (along the bottom edge - 89 sts), 2 rows with yellow yarn, and 1 row with red yarn. Connect motifs and half-motifs for the bottom stripe and attach their upper edge with the last row of double crochets using red yarn. Make 89 sts along the edge of the bottom cable according to the scheme 3. Create 89 sts according to the scheme 4 along the upper edge of the central stripe. At the beginning of the pattern according to scheme 4, at approximately 36 cm height, decrease 6 x 1 st after 1 selvage st in every row from both sides for neck-hole chamfer to leave 77 sts. For back, connect 3 motifs in a stripe. Make 3 rows of double crochets on 45 sts of arm-hole with red yarn along the upper edge of the back and finish your work. For front, sew 1 motif from both sides, leaving 3 sts for each arm-hole. Make 3 rows of double crochets on 13 sts with red yarn along the upper edge of these motifs.

Sleeves

Make 2 motifs according to scheme 1 for each sleeve. Fasten the sides of motifs with 1 row of double crochets and connect the motifs. Work according to scheme 4 along on 32 sts along the upper edge of motifs and continue the work with double crochets using red yarn. Increase 2 x 1 st in every 8^th row to reach 36 sts. At 30 cm height from the beginning of motifs, finish your work. Fasten the bottom edge of sleeves with 2 rows of double crochets using ecru yarn. Total height is about 33 cm.

Collar and Plackets

Cast on 26 sts with knitting needles 7 in 2 threads of ecru yarn and work with 2 x 2 rib, increasing 2 x 4 sts, 3 x 3 sts, 5 x 2 sts, 1 st, and 40 sts in every 2^nd row from both sides = 162 sts. At 20 cm height, bind off the sts according to the pattern.

Assembly

Make side seams. Sew up the sleeves in the arm-holes. Fasten the front and neck-hole lines with 1 row of single crochets using ecru yarn. Sew collar and plackets. For the belt, make a braid about 110 cm long using several threads of ecru yarn. For belt-loops, create 2 chains 4 cm long each with ecru yarn and sew them from both sides.
