How to Knit a Cozy Children's Hat

You'll Need

25g of white 100% cotton yarn;

Straight knitting needles 2.5 and 3;

Crochet hook.

• Garter stitch: all knit stitches
• Stockinette stitch: right-side rows - all knit stitches; wrong-side rows - all purls

Instructions

Cast on 91 stitches with knitting needles size 3 and make 4 rows with garter stitch for the hat's edging.

Switch to knitting needles size 2.5 and start knitting the relief pattern. Repeat rows 1-15 of the pattern 3 times.

To create the crown, make decreases across the entire work. For this, knit three together (k3tog) in the center on three right-side rows of each pattern repeat (at 4, 5, and 6 stitches).

Knit two together (k2tog) for all the stitches in the last row. Transfer the remaining stitches to the crochet hook. Cut the yarn, leaving a long end (about 25-30 cm). Draw the end of yarn through all the stitches and tighten them.

Finally, make a vertical seam of the hat with the same yarn.
