Create Your Own Stylish Crochet 2 in 1 Bag: A Versatile Accessory for Any Occasion

Materials Used

  • 5mm crochet hook
  • Worsted weight yarn: lavender (color A), white (color B)
  • One big button
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle
  • Fabric for lining
  • Thread and needle (or sewing machine)

Note: Basically, this crochet 2 in 1 bag project can be made with any type of yarn and hook size. Choose a yarn type that matches your hook.

I used chainless starting dc for every 1st dc of each round instead of ch 3. In the pattern below, you’ll see I simply state dc for every 1st dc of each round, so just choose your best technique.

Special Stitch Used

No-space V-stitch: (it’s a basic dc V-stitch without ch1-space between the V).

Bag Instructions

Starting the Bag

Start with color A yarn

R1: Ch 26, sc into 2nd ch from hook, 24 sc across, 2 sc into last ch, continue at the other side, 24 sc across, 2 sc into last ch, sl into 1st st to join, total 52 sts.

R2: Ch 1, 2 sc into same st, 24 sc across, 2 sc into last st, continue at the other side, 2 sc into next st, 24 sc across, 2 sc into last st, sl into 1st st to join, total 56 sts.

R3: Ch 1, sc into same st, 2 sc into next st, 24 sc across, 2 sc into next st, sc into last st, continue at the other side, sc, 2 sc into next st, 24 sc across, 2 sc into next st, sc into last st, sl into 1st st to join, total 60 sts.

Continuing Bag Construction

R4: dc, *skip 1 st, 2 dc into next st* repeat ’till end, dc into last st, sl into 1st st to join, total 60 sts.

R5: Change to color B yarn, dc, *skip 1 st, 2 dc into the space between the V-stitch of the previous round* repeat ’till end, dc into last st, sl into 1st st to join, total 60 sts.

R6: Change to color A yarn, same as R5.

Repeating Sections

Repeat (R5 and R6) x 4 times until you reach R12.

R13 to R15: dc around, sl into 1st stitch to join, total 60 sts.

R16: hdc around, sl into 1st stitch to join, total 60 sts.

R17: (12 hdc, ch 8, 12 hdc) x 2 times, sl into 1st stitch to join, total 44 sts. (handle part).

R18: hdc around (8 hdc into ch 8 from previous round), sl into 1st stitch to join, total 60 sts.

R19: dc around, sl into 1st stitch to join, total 60 sts.

R20: hdc around, sl into 1st stitch to join, total 60 sts. (fasten off, weave in ends).

Finishing Touches

Attach a big button on, and that’s how you make a lovely clutch.
