How to Knit Your Own Wool Mittens

You’ll Need:
70g of 100% wool yarn (300m/100g);
Double-pointed needles 2.5;
Pin.
Used Patterns
1 x 1 rib;
Stockinette stitch: in RS row – knit sts, in WS row – purls;
Pattern: due to the scheme.
Instructions
Right Mitten
Cast on 44 (48) sts and knit around. Make 10 rows of rib. Make knit sts through front loops. Work with stockinette stitch on 2 knitting needles, starting from the 11th row – inner side of lap, work with the pattern on the rest of the 2 knitting needles – outer side of lap.
After knitting 9 cm, start forming the hole for the thumb on the back of hand. For this, transfer 7 sts to the pin with needles, which you use for making stockinette stitch. Cast on 7 more sts and continue work. Make to 17 cm height from the beginning. Then, make 6 rows of rib and bind off the sts due to the ornament.
Thumb
Transfer the slipped sts from the pin to the knitting needle, lift 7 sts along the edge + 1 st from broaching from each side. Place all the sts (= 16 sts) to the 4 knitting needles. Work with stockinette stitch to 4.5-5 cm. Bind off the sts due to the ornament.
Left Mitten
Make in reflection to the right mitten.
