How to Crochet Cozy Cotton Mittens

You’ll Need:
100% cotton yarn;
Crochet hook (depends on the chosen yarn).
Instructions
Make 4 chain stitches, slip stitch into the 1st chain stitch. Crochet around from the tip of your fingers to the wrist.
Row Instructions
1st Row: 2 chain stitches increase, 7 single crochets, slip stitch = 8 stitches;
2nd Row: 2 chain stitches increase, 2 single crochets in every stitch = 16 stitches;
3rd Row: 2 chain stitches increase, single crochets, increase 1/3 of all the stitches, slip stitch = 24 stitches;
4th and 5th Rows: Increase 2 stitches in every row;
6th Row: Increase 4 stitches = 32 stitches.
If necessary, make several rows without increases.
When you reach the needed width of the mitten, make 7-10 rows of single crochets without increases. Don’t forget to start each row with chain stitches increase and finish with slip stitch!
Shaping the Mitten
To make your mitten oval, you should make decreases by following this description: 2 stitches x 2 in every 2nd row. Continue working this way until you reach the wrist level.
Finishing Touches
Make several rows of ribbing or double crochets and add nice fringes using contrast color yarn. Cut the yarn and tighten the stitches.
Make the second mitten in the same way.
Secure Your Mittens
To prevent your mittens from slipping off, insert cords or laces into the holes of the pattern at the level of the wrist, form a button-hole from chain stitches, and sew a button 2-3 cm from it.
