Cozy Baby Sweater Knitting Pattern

You’ll Need:

3 (3, 4, 4) skeins of white yarn (50% Alpaca, 50% silk; 134m/50g);

1 skein of the same color yarn, but in pink;

Circle knitting needles 2.5 and 3 mm.

Size:

6 months (1 year, 2 years, 4 years).

Chest circumference: 43 (50, 53, 58) cm.

Length: 42 (45, 48, 52) cm.

Stitches Control:

25 sts = 10 cm of stockinette stitch.

Instructions

Round Yoke

Start your work with the yoke.

Cast on 72 (84, 96, 96) sts with pink yarn and knitting needles 2.5, slip st.

Knit around with a garter stitch pattern (1 row of knit sts, 1 row of purls) – for 6 rows.

Switch to knitting needles 3 and white yarn.

Knit 1 row of knit sts, then follow the scheme, increasing sts to 144 (168, 192, 192) sts, and bind off the sts after the last row of the scheme.

Back and Front

Make 45 (51, 55, 59) sts along the closed edge for the back, skip 27 (33, 41, 37) sts for the sleeve, cast on the new 9 (11, 11, 13) sts, and cast on 45 (51, 55, 59) sts along the closed edge of the front. Skip the next 27 (33, 41, 37) sts for the second sleeve, and cast on the new 9 (11, 11, 13) sts, resulting in a total of 108 (124, 132, 144) sts.

Place 4 markers: 1 in the center of the back, 1 in the center of the front, and 2 from both sides – 26 (30, 32, 35) sts between markers.

Continue with stockinette stitch and a 1 x 1 rib above the new sts around for 3 rows.

Then, switch to stockinette st on all the sts, increasing 1 st from each side of each marker (total = 8 sts).

Repeat the increases every 6^th row until reaching the needed length minus 2 cm, then complete 6 rows of the pearled pattern (after 3 rows of the scheme) and bind off the sts. Be sure to weave in the ends.
