Complete Guide to Knitting a Turquoise Lampone Sweater with Detailed Instructions and Patterns

You’ll Need:

550 (650)g of turquoise Lampone yarn (70% cotton, 30% polyamide; 135m/50g);

Knitting needles 3.5 and 4;

Circular knitting needles 3.5;

2 auxiliary needles.

Size:

S (M).

Used Patterns:

Garter Stitch:

In RS and WS rows – knit sts, in circle rows – *1 circle row of knit sts, 1 circle row of purls*.

Relief Pattern:

The quantity of sts is multiple 16 (17) + 8 (9) + 2 selvage sts. Work according to scheme 1, make WS rows as sts face, yarn overs as purls. Start with 1 selvage st, pattern repeat A (pattern repeat B), finish with sts before arrow A (B) and 1 selvage st. Repeat 1st-4th rows.

Central Pattern:

27 sts wide. Work according to scheme 2, make WS rows as sts face, yarn overs and cross knit sts as purls. Repeat 1st-16th rows.

Wrong-Side Pattern:

In RS row – purls, in WS row – knit sts.

Fold to the Right:

9 sts wide. Leave 3 sts on the 1st auxiliary needle behind work, transfer 3 sts to the 2nd auxiliary needle, place the 2nd auxiliary needle in front of the 1st auxiliary needle and make 3 x 1 st from the left hand needle (in front of) and 1 st from both auxiliary needles as knit2tog; as a result, 6 sts are decreased.

Fold to the Left:

9 sts wide. Leave 3 sts on the 1st auxiliary needle in front of work, transfer 3 sts to the 2nd auxiliary needle, place the 2nd auxiliary needle behind the 1st auxiliary needle and make 3 x 1 st from the left hand needle (behind) and 1 st from both auxiliary needles as knit2tog; as a result, 6 sts are decreased.

Stitches Control:

Relief pattern: 25 sts x 29 rows = 10 x 10 cm;

Central pattern: 27 sts x 29 rows = 12 x 10 cm;

Wrong-side pattern: 22 sts x 32 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions:

Back:

Cast on 173 (183) sts with knitting needles 4 and make 1 WS row of knit sts (don’t take this row into account). After that, work in the following way: 1 selvage st, 72 (77) sts of relief pattern, 27 sts of central pattern, 72 (77) sts of relief pattern, 1 selvage st. In 16.5 cm = 48 rows from the set-up row, make 5 sts of wrong-side pattern of relief sts as purl2tog in every strip for better fitting = 163 (173) sts. Repeat such decreases x 5 times in every 16th row = 113 (123) sts (the width of pattern repeat = 10 (11) sts + 2 (3) final sts). In 55 cm = 160 rows from the set-up row, bind off 1 x 4 sts in every 2nd row from both sides for arm-holes and 1 x 3 sts, 1 x 2 sts and 3 (4) x 1 st = 89 (97) sts. In 69 cm = 200 rows (72 cm = 208 rows) from the set-up row, bind off the central 35 sts for neck-hole and finish separately, bind off 1 x 4 sts and 2 x 3 sts in every 2nd row. In 71.5 cm = 208 rows (74 cm = 216 rows) from the set-up row, bind off the rest 17 (20) sts of shoulder.

Front:

Make the same way as back, but for a deeper neck-hole, bind off the central 27 (29) sts in 60.5 cm = 176 rows (63.5 cm = 184 rows) from the set-up row and 1 x 3 sts, 1 x 2 sts and 9 x 1 st in every 2nd row.

Sleeves:

Cast on 56 (62) sts with knitting needles 3.5 and make 2 cm = 6 rows of garter stitch for placket. Change to knitting needles 4 and work with wrong-side pattern, double every st between selvage sts in the 1st row (make 1 knit st and 1 cross knit st from 1 st) = 110 (122) sts. In 5 cm = 16 rows from placket, bind off 1 x 3 sts from both sides for sleeve caps, then, 1 x 2 sts, 14 (15) x 1 st, 1 x 2 sts, 2 x 3 sts, 1 x 4 sts and 1 x 5 (6) sts in every 2nd row. Work for fold on the rest 38 (46) sts in the following way: 1 selvage st, 0 (3) purls, 2 folds to the right, 0 (2) purls, 2 folds to the left, 0 (3) purls, 1 selvage st. Bind off the rest 14 (22) knit sts in the next WS row.

Assembly:

Make shoulder seams. Cast on 124 (128) sts along the neck-hole with circular knitting needles and make 2 cm of garter stitch for placket, then, bind off sts. Sew up the sleeves, make side and sleeve seams.
