Comprehensive Guide to Knitting a Stylish Garment with Garn Cottina Yarn

You’ll Need:

300 (350/350)g of Garn Cottina yarn GGH (100% cotton; 140m/50g) in yellow color;

150 (150/200)g of the same yarn, but in orange color;

Knitting needles 3-3.5 and 3.5-4;

Circular knitting needles 3-3.5 (40 cm long).

Size:

S (M) L.

Used Patterns:

Pattern for Placket:

2 knit sts, 2 purls;

Stockinette Stitch:

In RS row – knit sts, in WS row – purls.

Stitch Control:

Knitting needles 3.5-4: 21 sts x 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions:

Back:

Cast on 90 (98/110) sts with knitting needles 3-3.5 and yellow yarn and make 10 cm of pattern for placket. Continue work with stockinette stitch and knitting needles 3.5-4 with orange and yellow yarn by turn.

For “bat sleeves”, increase 2 (4/6) x 1 st in every 4th row from both sides and 42 (39/37) x 1 st in every 2nd row. For this, increase 1 cross knit st from transversal yarn in 3 sts from each end = 178 (184/196) sts.

Then, cast on new 6 (5/3) x 2 sts and 3 x 4 sts in every 2nd row = 226 (228/232) sts. Continue work with yellow yarn.

At 56 (57/58) cm height, bind off the central 36 sts for the neck-hole, decrease 5 x 1 st in every 2nd row. For this, knit till the last 4 sts from the right side, then, knit2tog, 1 knit st, 1 selvage st; from left side – 1 selvage st and 1 knit st, then, make 1 broaching (slip 1 knit st, 1 knit st, draw it through the slipped st).

At 60 (61/62) cm height, finish your work and leave 90 (91/93) sts and sleeve sts.

Front:

Make in the same way as back, but bind off the sts for neck-hole at 54 (55/56) cm height.

Assembly:

Connect the sts of shoulder and upper sleeve part. For placket, knit the previously left 36 sts with circular knitting needles and yellow yarn, increase 22 sts between them = 116 sts. Then, make 1 circle row of purls and 2 circle rows of knit sts, bind off the sts as knit sts.

Join 54 (58/62) sts on edges of sleeves with yellow yarn and knitting needles 3-3.5, make 9 cm with the pattern for placket, then, bind off the sts.

Make sleeve and side seams.
