You’ll Need:

350 (400) 400 g of grey-brown yarn (100% cotton; 90m/50g);

300 (350) 350 g of the same yarn, but in light-blue color;

Knitting needles 4.5;

Circle knitting needles 4.

Size:

S (M) L.

Used Patterns:

Rib Pattern:

The quantity of stitches (sts) is even.

RS rows: 1 selvage stitch, *1 purl, 1 cross knit stitch*, 1 selvage stitch;

WS rows: due to the ornament.

Cabled Pattern:

The quantity of stitches is multiple of 10 + 2 + 2 selvage stitches. Work according to the chart, which indicates both RS and WS rows. Start with 1 selvage stitch and stitch before pattern repeat, repeat the pattern continuously, finishing with stitch after pattern repeat and 1 selvage stitch. Make 1st-6th rows once, then constantly repeat 3rd-6th rows.

Stitches Control:

20.5 sts x 32 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions:

Back:

Cast on 84 (94) 104 sts with grey-brown yarn and make 2.5 cm of rib for the placket. Continue work with the cabled pattern, increasing 10 sts in the 1st row = 94 (104) 114 sts. In 37 cm = 118 rows from the placket, bind off 1 x 2 sts from both sides for arm-holes, then, 4 x 2 sts in every 2nd row = 74 (84) 94 sts. In 55.5 cm = 178 rows (57.5 cm = 184 rows), 59.5 cm = 190 rows from the placket, bind off the central 48 sts for the neck-hole and finish both sides separately. In 57.5 cm = 184 rows (95.5 cm = 190 rows) 61.5 cm = 196 rows from the placket, bind off the rest 13 (18) 23 sts for shoulders.

Front:

Make in the same way as the back, but for the neck-hole, in 52.5 cm = 168 rows (54.5 cm = 174 rows) 56.5 cm = 180 rows from the placket, bind off the central 34 sts and finish both sides separately. For smooth rounding, bind off 3 x 2 sts and 1 x 1 st in every 2nd row from inwards.

Sleeves:

Cast on 40 (44) 48 sts with grey-brown yarn for each sleeve and make the placket in the same way as for the back. Continue work with a striped pattern, increasing 14 (10) 6 sts in the 1st row = 54 sts. In 5 cm = 16 rows from the placket, increase 1 x 1 st from both sides for sleeve chamfers, then, 9 x 1 st in every 12th row (13 x 1 st in every 8th row) 17 x 1 st in every 6th row due to the pattern and the color of yarn = 74 (82) 90 sts. In 45.5 cm = 146 rows from the placket, bind off 1 x 3 sts from both sides for sleeve caps, then, 3 x 2 sts in every 2nd row, 4 x 1 st in every 4th row, 3 x 2 sts in every 2nd row, 3 x 1 st in every 4th row, 1 x 1 st and 3 x 2 sts in every 2nd row (3 x 2 sts in every 2nd row, 2 x 1 st in every 4th row, 2 x 1 st and 3 x 2 sts in every 2nd row, 3 x 1 st in every 4th row, 1 x 1 st and 3 x 2 st in every 2nd row) 3 x 2 sts and 4 x 1 st in every 2nd row, 1 x 1 st in the next 4th row, 4 x 1 st and 3 x 2 sts in every 2nd row, 2 x 1 st in every 4th row and 4 x 2 sts in every 2nd row. In 61 cm = 196 rows from the placket, bind off the rest 16 (20) 22 sts.

Assembly:

Make shoulder seams. For the placket, cast on 83 sts with grey-brown yarn along the neck-hole line and make 5 circular rows of knit stitches. Then, bind off all the stitches loosely as knit sts. Sew the sleeves, and make side and sleeve seams.
