Knitting Instructions for a Raglan Sweater

You’ll Need:

9 (10, 11, 12, 13, 15) skeins of middle weight yarn (50% wool, 50% cotton or acrylic; 100-110m/50g);

Circle and double-pointed needles size 4;

Markers.

Stitches Control:

21 sts х 28 rows = 10 х 10 cm (stockinette stitch).

Instructions

Raglan

Make all the decreases in the following way: knit 2 together, 1 knit stitch, transfer marker, 1 knit stitch, slip 1 stitch as knit stitch, 1 knit stitch, draw it through the slipped stitch.

Main Part

Cast on 192 (208, 240, 256, 288, 320) stitches, circle them in a ring, and make 2 rows of garter stitch. After that, continue working according to scheme A. 1 (vertical pattern repeat) = 168 (182, 210, 224, 252, 280) stitches.

Divide all the stitches with markers, separate the front and back parts (place marker at the beginning of the circle row and after 84 (91, 105, 112, 126, 140) stitches, and continue work with stockinette stitch.

After making 8 cm, decrease 1 stitch from both sides of the marker, repeat the circle row of decreases every 3 cm for 4 rounds = 148 (162, 190, 204, 232, 260) stitches. After 26 cm, increase 1 stitch from both sides of the marker, repeat the circle row with increases in 4 (4, 5; 4, 5; 5; 5; 5, 5) cm for 3 rounds.

When the height is 41 (42, 43, 44, 45, 46) cm, bind off 4 stitches from both sides of the marker and leave the remaining stitches.

Sleeves

Cast on 45 (47, 49, 51, 53, 55) stitches and circle them. Make 2 rows with garter stitch, and place a marker at the beginning of the circle row. After that, make 15 (16, 17, 18, 19, 20) stitches of stockinette stitch, 15 stitches according to scheme A. 2 and finish the circle row with knit stitches.

Continue work according to the pattern, meanwhile, after 8 cm from the first row, increase 1 stitch from both sides of the marker, repeat the circle row every 3.5 (3; 3; 2.5; 2; 2) cm for 11 (12, 13, 14, 16, 17) times = 69 (73, 77, 81, 87, 91) stitches. Knit the increased stitches with stockinette stitch. After 51 (50, 50, 49, 49, 48) cm from the first row, bind off 4 stitches from each side of the marker and leave the remaining stitches.

Make the second sleeve in the same way.

Yoke

Transfer the stitches onto the circular knitting needles. Divide them with markers. You should get 292 (328, 350, 390, 426) stitches. Continue working with the relief pattern, start forming the raglan line, repeat the circle row of increases every 2nd row for 21 (23, 24, 24, 24, 25) times and then x 0 (0, 1, 3, 7) in every row. You should have 102 (108, 128, 134, 150, 170) stitches left. Make 4 more circle rows with garter stitch, decreasing 7 (7, 23, 25, 37, 53) stitches in the 1st row. Bind off all the stitches.

Assembly

Sew the sleeves to the main part.
