Stitches Control

Stockinette stitch: 18 sts x 23 rows = 10 x 10 cm;

Relief pattern: 24 sts = 10 cm.

Instructions

Back

Cast on 108 (138) sts, make the 1^st row (WS) with knit sts. Then, work with relief pattern, start from the 1^st row from arrow according to the size; make 18 sts of pattern repeat x 5 (7) times, make 5 (2) sts after pattern repeat at the end. Repeat 1^st-16^th rows in height. At 33 (37) cm height, bind off 9 (14) x 1 st in every 2^nd row from both sides for arm-holes in the following way: 1 (2) sts in RS row, the next 2 sts – as broaching (slip 1 knit st, 1 knit st, draw it through the slipped st), then, knit the sts according to the ornament until there are 3 (4) sts left in the end of the row, make knit2tog to finish the row. After making all the decreases, there are 90 (110) sts on the knitting needles. At 18 (21) cm height of arm-hole, bind off the central 34 sts for the neck-hole and finish each side separately. For smooth rounding, bind off 2 x 2 sts in every 2^nd row from inwards. At 20 (23) cm height of arm-hole, bind off the rest 24 (34) sts for shoulder.

Make another side in symmetry to the first one.

Front

Make in the same way as back, but with deeper neck-hole. For this, at 4 (7) cm height of arm-hole, bind off the central 26 sts and knit each side separately. For smooth rounding, bind off 1 x 2 sts in the next 2^nd row from inwards, step back 1 st from edge. Then, bind off 6 x 1 st in every 2^nd row. Make decreases from the right side, producing the broaching, and from the left side – knit2tog. Bind off the rest 24 (34) sts of shoulder at the height of back.

Make another side in symmetry to the first.

Sleeves

Cast on 41 (47) sts and make 1^st (WS) row with knit sts. Then, make 3 rows of stockinette stitch, 3 rows of wrong-side pattern, 3 rows of stockinette stitch. Continue with stockinette stitch to the end of work. At 16 (15) cm height, increase 1 st from both sides for forming sleeve chamfers. Repeat this increase every 6^th row x 3 times, then, in every 4th row x 9 (11) times = 67 (77) sts. At 44 (47) cm height, bind off 5 (7) x 1 st in every 2^nd row from both sides. Bind off the rest sts.

Assembly

Make shoulder seams. Cast on 107 sts along the neck-hole line with circle knitting needles in 2 threads of yarn (68 sts of front and 39 sts of back). Make 3 circle rows of wrong-side pattern, 3 rows of stockinette stitch, 3 rows of wrong-side pattern. Bind off the sts. Sew up the sleeves and make side and sleeve seams.
