WS garter stitch: all purls;
Stockinette stitch: in RS rows – knit stitches, in WS rows – purls;
Garter stitch: all knit stitches;
Relief pattern with cables A: first, the quantity of stitches is a multiple of 11 +5; from the 9th row – the quantity of stitches is a multiple of 13 + 5. Work according to scheme 1, which states only RS rows, make WS rows according to the ornament, yarn overs – as purls. Repeat the pattern and finish with stitches after the pattern repeat. Make 1st-24th rows once, then repeat the 13th-24th rows;
Relief pattern with cables B: make in the same way as relief pattern with cables A, but according to scheme 2.
Stitches Control
Wrong-side and stockinette stitch: 17 stitches x 23 rows = 10 x 10 cm;
Relief patterns with cables A and B (after increases): 20 stitches x 23 rows = 10 x 10 cm;
WS garter stitch with relief pattern with cables: 15 stitches x 23 rows = 10 x 10 cm;
Garter stitch (sleeve placket): 15 stitches x 31 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Instructions
Back
Cast on 81 (87) stitches and make 1.5 cm = 1 WS row with knit stitches and 2 WS rows with garter stitch for the placket. Then, work in the following way: 1 selvedge stitch, 38 stitches of relief pattern with cables A, 3 (9) stitches with WS garter stitch, 38 stitches of relief pattern with cables B, 1 selvedge stitch. There are 93 (99) stitches in relief pattern with cables after the increases. In 21 cm = 48 rows from the placket, make 2 cm = 4 rows with stockinette stitch for waist, make 2 x knit2tog in every cable of the 1st row = 81 (87) stitches. Then, knit in the same way as in the beginning, but start relief patterns with cables with the 5th-24th rows of the scheme = 93 (99) stitches. In 15 cm = 34 rows from the waist placket, bind off 3 stitches from both sides for arm-holes and 1 x 3 stitches, 2 x 2 stitches, 3 x 1 stitch in every 2nd row = 67 (73) stitches. In 31.5 cm = 72 rows (34 cm = 78 rows) from the waist placket, bind off 3 (5) stitches from both sides for shoulder chamfers and 2 x 4 stitches in every 2nd row. At the same time with the 1st decrease of shoulder, bind off the central 27 (29) stitches for neck-hole and finish both sides separately. For a smooth rounding, bind off 1 x 3 stitches and 1 x 2 stitches in every 2nd row from inwards. In 34 cm = 78 rows (36.5 cm = 84 rows) from the waist placket, bind off the remaining 4 stitches for shoulder from both sides.
Front
Make in the same way as back, but make 2 holes for the cord in the 3rd row of waist placket in the following way: knit2tog and 1 yarn over before middle 3 stitches, 1 yarn over and 1 broaching after middle 3 stitches; make yarn overs in WS rows as purls. For the placket for buttons, work in the following way: for the left front: 1 selvedge stitch, 38 stitches of relief pattern with cables A from the 5th row of the pattern and 0 (3) stitches of WS garter stitch, then, cast on 4 stitches and make them as WS garter stitch = 43 (46) stitches, after increases = 49 (52) stitches. Make arm-hole from the right side in the same way as back = 36 (39) stitches. In 29 cm = 66 rows (31.5 cm = 72 rows) from the waist placket, bind off 11 (12) stitches for neck-hole from inwards and 1 x 3 stitches, 2 x 2 stitches, 2 x 1 stitch in every 2nd row and 1 x 1 stitch in the next 4th row. Make shoulder chamfer from the right side in the same way as back. At the height of back, bind off the remaining 4 stitches of shoulder.
Right front: increase 1 cross knit stitch from transversal thread in the 1st row and the next 3 (6) stitches as WS garter stitch, the first 4 stitches make placket, then make 38 stitches with relief pattern with cables B from the 5th row of the pattern, the first 4 stitches make placket, then make 38 stitches with relief pattern with cables B from the 5th row of the pattern, 1 selvedge stitch = 43 (46) stitches, after increases = 49 (52) stitches. At the same time, make 6 buttonholes in the following way: 3 knit stitches, 1 yarn over as purl2tog, yarn in every RS row, make yarn over as purl in WS rows. Make the 1st buttonhole in the 7th (13th) row from the waist placket, make the next 2 buttonholes in a 10-row distance, the rest 3 buttonholes – in 12-row distance. Make arm-hole from the left side in the same way as back = 36 (39) stitches. Make neck-hole and shoulder chamfer in symmetry to the left half of the front. Bind off the remaining 4 stitches of shoulder at the height of back.
Sleeves
Cast on 48 (54) stitches and make 10 cm = 31 rows of garter stitch for placket, start with 1 WS row and increase 11 stitches in the last WS row = 59 (65) stitches. Then, work in the following way: 1 selvedge stitch, 27 stitches of relief pattern with cables A, 3 (9) stitches of WS garter stitch, 27 stitches of relief pattern with cables B, 1 selvedge stitch. In 2.5 cm = 6 rows from the placket, increase 1 stitch from both sides for sleeve chamfers and 3 x 1 stitch of WS garter stitch in every 4th row = 75 (81) stitches. In 10.5 cm = 24 rows from the placket, bind off the remaining 27 (33) stitches.
Assembly
Make shoulder seams. Cast on 79 (83) stitches with circular knitting needles along the neck-hole line, including the short sides of placket for buttons, make 2 cm = 3 rows of WS pattern, start with 1 WS row and bind off all the stitches as knit stitches. Sew up the sleeves, make side and sleeve seams. Sew the buttons. Make a cord.
