Complete Guide to Using Juliette SMC Select Yarn for Your Knitting Project

You’ll Need:

700 (800)g of green Juliette SMC Select yarn (100% cotton; 50m/50g);

Straight knitting needles 5.5 and 6;

Circle knitting needles 5.5.

Size:

S (L).

Used Patterns:

  • 1 x 1 Rib, knitting needles 5.5;
  • Relief Rhombs Pattern, knitting needles 6: the quantity of sts is multiple of 14 + 2 + 2 selvage sts.
    Work according to the scheme, where only RS rows are stated. For WS rows, follow the ornament: cross knit stitch as cross purl, yarn over as purl. Start with 1 selvage st, followed by sts before pattern repeat, then the pattern repeat, and finish with sts after pattern repeat and 1 selvage st. Make 1st-32nd rows once, then repeat 5th-32nd rows.

Stitches Control:

15.5 sts x 18 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions:

Back/Front:

Cast on 74 (88) sts and make 5 cm of rib. Then, work with relief rhombs pattern. In 21 cm = 38 rows from rib, increase 1 st from both sides for sleeves and 5 x 1 st in every 2nd row = 86 (100) sts, including these sts in the pattern. In 49 cm = 88 rows (53.5 cm = 96 rows) from rib, bind off 2 sts from both sides for shoulder chamfers and 7 x 2 (3) sts in every 2nd row. In 58 cm = 104 rows (62.5 cm = 112 rows) from rib, bind off 2 sts from both sides for shoulders and leave the central 50 sts for the neck-hole.

Assembly:

Make shoulder seams. Transfer the previously left 100 sts of neck-hole to the circle knitting needles, make 3 cm of rib and bind off the sts according to the ornament. Cast on 64 sts to the circle knitting needles and make 3 cm of rib with straight and reversed rows, then bind off the sts according to the ornament. Make side seams.

Please help...I would very much like to make this for my granddaughter but I am at a loss for this great sweater.  What is a relief rhombs pattern?  Where are the symbols? Maybe this is beyond my talent.  Is it possible for this to be written out?  Guess I am asking a lot so if you can 't  I  appreciate your time.
