You’ll Need:

350 (400) 450g of purple Merino Mix yarn (51% merino wool, 49% polyacryl; 100m/50g);

Knitting needles 4 and 4.5;

4 buttons.

Size:

S (M) L.

Used Patterns

Pattern for Plackets

Knitting needles 4: 1 selvage st, 1 knit st, * 2 purls, 2 knit sts*; repeat from * to *, 2 purls, 1 knit st, 1 selvage st; repeat from * to *;

Main Pattern 1

Stockinette stitch, knitting needles 5;

Main Pattern 2

Wrong-side pattern, knitting needles 5;

Cable Pattern

1st row: 10 knit sts;

2nd row: 10 purls;

3rd row: 10 knit sts, increase 6 sts = 16 sts;

4th row: 16 purls;

5th row: 16 knit sts.

Make 1st-3rd rows once, then repeat 4th and 5th rows, crossing the sts in the following way in every 20th row: leave 8 sts on the auxiliary needle in front of work, 8 knit sts, 8 knit sts from the auxiliary needle. Decrease 6 sts after the last cross = 10 sts.

Special Decreases

From the right side: 1 selvage st, 1 knit st, slip 1 knit st, 1 knit st, draw it through the slipped st, then work with the main pattern;

From the left side: knit 2 together, 1 knit st, 1 selvage st.

Stitches Control

Pattern for plackets: 24 sts x 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm;

Stockinette stitch: 18 sts x 26 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions

Back

Cast on 102 (110) 122 sts and make 10 cm of pattern for plackets. Then, work with main pattern 1, decrease 22 (24) 30 sts in the 1st row = 80 (86) 92 sts. For better fitting, decrease 4 x 1 st in every 8th row from both sides with special decreases and then increase 4 x 1 st in every 8th row from both sides. In 38 (39) 40 cm from the set-up row, decrease 7 (9) 11 x 1 st in every 2nd row from both sides with special decreases for arm-holes = 66 (68) 70 sts. In 58 (59) 60 cm from the set-up row, bind off 3 x 4 sts and 1 x 5 sts (2 x 5 sts and 2 x 4 sts) 3 x 5 sts and 1 x 4 sts in every 2nd row from both sides for shoulder chamfers. In 60 (61) 62 cm from the set-up row, bind off the rest 32 sts.

Left Front

Cast on 38 (46) 50 sts and make 10 cm with pattern for plackets. Then, work with the main pattern 2 with cable, decrease 7 (11) 11 sts in the 1st row = 31 (35) 39 sts. Work in the following way: 1 selvage st, 2 knit sts, 8 (12) 16 purls, 10 sts of cable, 7 purls, 2 knit sts, 1 selvage st. Increase 6 sts in the 3rd row of cable = 37 (41) 45 sts. Make better fitting and arm-hole from the right side in the same way, as for back. In 35 cm from the set-up row, decrease 7 x 1 st in every 4th row from the left side. Decrease 6 sts after the last cross. Make shoulder seams from the right side in the same way, as for back, decrease 0 (1) 2 sts in 2 rows before the beginning of shoulder chamfer.

Right Front

Make in symmetry to the left front.

Sleeves

Cast on 50 (54) 58 sts and work with plackets. In 2 rows, decrease 7 x 1 st and 7 x 2 sts in every 2nd row from both sides with special decreases. In 10 cm from the set-up row, bind off the rest 8 (12) 16 sts.

Assembly

Make shoulder and side seams. Sew up the sleeves. Make 2 cords 40 cm long. Cast on 272 (275) 278 sts along the edges of the front and back neck-hole and work with pattern for plackets, making 4 button holes. Sew buttons.
