Knitting Instructions for Garter Stitch and Relief Pattern Garment

You’ll Need:

8 skeins of Noro/KPI Ginga yarn (40% cotton, 30% silk, 15% wool, 15% nylon; 201m/100g) in mélange color;

Knitting needles 9;

Circular knitting needles 9;

Stitch markers.

Size:

92.5 cm x 66 cm.

Used Patterns

Garter Stitch:

knit sts.

Relief Pattern:

1st (WS) row: * knit2tog, 1 yarn over*; repeat from * to *, 1 knit st;

2nd, 4th, 6th rows (RS): knit;

3rd and 5th row: purl;

7th row: * 1 broaching, 1 yarn over*; repeat from * to *, 1 knit st;

8th-12th rows: as 2nd-6th rows;

13th-14th rows: as 1st-2nd rows;

15th row: as the 7th row;

16th-20th rows: as 2nd-6th rows;

21st row: purl;

22nd row: 1 knit st, * double broaching, double yarn over*; repeat from * to *, 1 knit st;

23rd row: 1 knit st, * (1 purl, 1 knit st) on double yarn over, 1 purl*; repeat from * to *, 1 knit st;

24th row: knit.

Repeat 1st-24th row.

Stitches Control:

10 sts x 16 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions

Back:

Cast on 91 sts and make set-up row: 4 knit sts, marker, 83 knit sts, marker, 4 knit sts. After that, make 4 sts of garter stitch, 83 sts of relief pattern, 4 sts of garter stitch. At 66 cm height, leave the first 35 sts for shoulder, the central 21 sts for neck-hole, the rest 35 sts for shoulder.

Front:

Make in the same way as back. At 53 cm height, leave the central 9 sts for neck-hole and finish each side separately, bind off 2 x 2 sts in every 2nd row from each side and decrease 2 x 1 st = 35 sts. Leave the rest sts of shoulder at the height of back.

Assembly:

Bind off and connect sts of shoulder with the help of the 3rd needle. Make 21 sts of back neck-hole with circular knitting needles, cast on 10 sts along left side of front neck-hole, 9 knit sts, 10 sts along right side of front = 50 sts. Make 3 circle rows of knit sts and bind off as knit sts.
