Stitches Control:

Garter stitch: 14 stitches x 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm;

Relief pattern: 11 – 19 stitches = 8.5 cm wide.

Instructions:

Back:

Cast on 66 (72) 78 stitches with knitting needles size 6 and work with garter stitch, starting with 1 WS row of knit stitches. For better fitting, make special decreases: 1 stitch in the 14th (16th) 18th row and 2 x 1 stitch in every 14th row = 60 (66) 72 stitches. In 15 (16) 17 cm from the set-up row, mark from both sides. In the 17th row from marks, increase 1 stitch from both sides for chamfers, and make 3 x 1 stitch in every 10th row = 68 (74) 80 stitches. At 20 cm from marks, start making arm-holes. In 17 (18) 19 cm from the beginning of arm-holes, bind off 4 stitches from both sides for sleeve chamfers, then, 3(4) 1 x 4 stitches and 2 (1) 4 x 3 (5) 5 stitches in every 2nd row. At the same time as the 4th decrease, bind off the central 18 stitches for the neck-hole and finish your work separately, binding off 1 x 2 stitches and 1 x 1 stitch in every 2nd row.

Left Front:

Cast on 37 (40) 43 stitches and work with garter stitch, starting with 1 WS row of knit stitches. Make decreases and side chamfer from the right side in the same way as for the back = 38 (41) 44 stitches. In 11 (12) 13 cm from the beginning of the arm-hole, bind off 6 stitches from the left side for neck-hole, with 1 x 3 stitches, 1 x 2 stitches, and 3 x 1 stitch in every 2nd row. Additionally, make 2 x 1 stitch in every 4th row.

Right Front:

Make symmetrically to the left front with 2 button-holes. For the first button-hole, bind off the 5th and 6th stitches from the side in 19 (20) 21 cm from the set-up row. Cast on 2 stitches again in the next row.

Sleeves:

Cast on 41 (43) 45 stitches and make 1 WS row of knit stitches. Then, work as follows: 1 selvage stitch, 14 (15) 16 stitches of garter stitch, 11 stitches of relief pattern, 14 (15) 16 stitches of garter stitch, 1 selvage stitch. Increase 1 stitch in the 17th row from the set-up row, then make 3 x 1 stitch in every 16th row. In 30 cm from the set-up row, bind off 49 (51) 53 stitches.

Assembly:

Make seams. Fasten the vertical edge of the right front with 1 row of slip stitches, the neck-hole edge with 1 row of single crochets, and the vertical edge of the left front with 1 row of slip stitches. Sew up the sleeves and attach the buttons.
