Knitting Instructions for a Stylish Garment

You’ll Need:

800g of Merio Maxi yarn (50% merino wool, 50% acryl; 60m/100g);

Knitting needles size 8.

Used Patterns

Double Rib

Cast on half of the needed quantity of stitches with contrast yarn.

1^st row: With working yarn: *1 knit stitch, 1 yarn over*; repeat from * to *.

3^rd and all following rows: *1 knit stitch, slip 1 purl, yarn in front of work*; repeat from * to *; take off contrast yarn in ready-made detail.

Stockinette Stitch

In RS row – knit stitches, in WS row – purls.

Garter Stitch

Knit.

Stitches Control:

10 stitches x 13 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Back

Cast on 40 stitches and make 4 rows of double rib and 42 rows with garter stitch. Then, work with stockinette stitch. In 30 cm, bind off 1 x 2 stitches from both sides for arm-hole chamfers, knit 2 rows and decrease 1 x 1 stitch from both sides. In 48 cm, bind off the remaining 34 stitches, leaving 7 edging stitches from both sides for shoulders.

Left Front

Knit across. Cast on 86 stitches and make 4 rows of double rib, then work with garter stitch. Make decreases in the 1^st row of garter stitch to get a gored edge in the following way: 20 stitches of garter stitch, broaching, 1 stitch of garter stitch, knit 2 together, 58 stitches of garter stitch, 3 stitches of double rib. Repeat these decreases every 2^nd row x 21 times. Leave the left edging of 18 stitches in the 27^th row for neck-hole and bind off the left edging of 18 stitches in the 39^th row for arm-hole chamfer, and bind off the remaining 6 stitches.

Right Front

Knit in symmetry to the Left Front.

Sleeves

Cast on 24 stitches and make 4 rows of double rib, followed by 10 rows of garter stitch. After that, work with stockinette stitch, increasing 4 x 1 stitch in every 10^th row from both sides. In 38 cm, decrease 5 x 1 stitch in every 2^nd row from both sides for sleeve cap and bind off the remaining 18 stitches in 49 cm.

Assembly

Make shoulder seams. For the collar, cast on the previously left 18 stitches of the right front neck-hole, make 20 rows of garter stitch, and leave these stitches. Cast on the previously left 18 stitches of the left front neck-hole, make 21 rows of garter stitch, and leave all stitches. Connect the previously left details of both parts of the collar with kitchener's stitch and sew the lower edge of the collar to the back neck-hole. Sew up sleeves and complete the sleeve and side seams.
