Step-by-Step Pattern

Round 1:
Start with a magic ring.

CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), 2 DC into the ring, CH 1.
3 DC into the ring, CH 1.

Repeat step 3 four more times.

Pull the ring tight and join with a SL ST to the top of the initial CH 3. (Total of 6 clusters separated by CH 1 spaces.)

Round 2:

SL ST into the next CH 1 space.
Into the CH 1 space: (CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), 2 DC, CH 1, 3 DC).
Repeat step 2 into each CH 1 space.
Join with a SL ST to the top of the initial CH 3.

Round 3:

SL ST into the next 2 DC then into the CH 1 space.
Into the CH 1 space: (CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), 2 DC, CH 1, 3 DC).

CH 1.

Join with a SL ST to the top of the initial CH 3.

Round 4 (Forming the Shape of The Heart):

SL ST into the gap between the first and second DC of the first cluster.
Into the next CH 1 space: (3 TR, 3 DC, CH 1, 1 SC)
Into the next CH 1 space: (1 SC, CH 1, 3 DC, 3 TR)

SC in the next CH 1 space.
CH 3 in the next CH 1 space.
SC in the next CH 1 space.
Repeat steps 2-6 to form the point.
Join with a SL ST to the base of the initial CH 3.

Finishing:

Fasten off and weave in ends using the yarn needle.
Block the coaster if desired to achieve a neat shape.
