Materials:

Small amount 100% cotton worsted weight yarn (Peaches & Creme in Ecru was used for sample); size F aluminum crochet hook (I used a Boye hook) OR Size Needed for Gauge.

RND 1 = about 1½" across

About 4" across

NOTE:
One 2 to 2½ oz ball should make several coasters

Begin with ch 8, sl st in first ch to form ring.

RND 1: ch 3 (counts as first dc, now and throughout), 19 dc in ring, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3. (20 dc)

RND 2: ch 3, dc in same place as joining, ch 2, 2 dc in next st, ch 1, sk next st, hdc in next st, ch 1, sk next st, *2 dc in next st, ch 2, 2 dc in next st, ch 1, sk next st, hdc in next st, ch 1, sk next st*, rep from * to * around, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3. (4 ch-2 sps, 8 ch-1 sps)

RND 3: sl st to ch-2 sp, (ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same sp, (2 dc in next ch-1 sp) 2 times, *(2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch-2 sp, (2 dc in next ch-1 sp) 2 times*, rep from * to * around, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3. (32 dc)

RND 4: sl st to ch-2 sp, (ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same sp, dc in each of next 8 dc, *(2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch-2 sp, dc in each of next 8 dc*, rep from * to * around, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3. (48 dc)

RND 5: ch 1, sc in same place as joining, sc in next st, *(sc, ch 1, sc) in ch-2 sp, sc in each of next 12 dc*, rep from * to * around, ending last rep with sc in next 10 dc, join with sl st in first sc. (56 sc) Fasten Off. Weave in ends.
