Begin with ch 8, sl st in first ch to form a ring.

ch 3, dc in same place as joining, ch 2, 2 dc in next st, ch 1, sk next st, hdc in next st, ch 1, sk next st, *2 dc in next st, ch 2, 2 dc in next st, ch 1, sk next st, hdc in next st, ch 1, sk next st*, rep from * to * around, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3. (4 ch-2 sps, 8 ch-1 sps)

sl st to ch-2 sp, (ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same sp, (2 dc in next ch-1 sp) 2 times, *(2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch-2 sp, (2 dc in next ch-1 sp) 2 times*, rep from * to * around, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3. (32 dc)
