You’ll need:

1500g of Merino wool (98% Merino wool, 2% polyester with nylon; 70m/50g);

Straight and circle knitting needles 7;

4 buttons with 50 mm diameter;

2 big snappers.

Size: M/L.

Used Patterns:

Stockinette stitch: in RS rows – knit sts, in WS rows – purls;

Garter stitch: all knit sts;

Striped pattern: * 2 rows of stockinette stitch, 2 rows of garter stitch*; repeat from * to *;

Pearled pattern:

1st row: knit;

2nd row: * 1 purl, 1 knit st*; repeat from * to *, finish with 1 purl;

3rd row: as the 2nd row;

4th and 6th rows: due to the ornament;

5th row: * 1 knit st, 1 purl*; repeat from * to *, finish with 1 knit st.

Repeat 1st-6th rows once, then, repeat 3rd-6th rows.

Stitches control:

Striped pattern: 14,5 sts x 26,5 rows = 10 x 10 cm;

Pearled pattern: 15 sts x 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm;

Garter stitch: 14,5 sts x 28,5 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions

Back

Cast on 109 sts and make 1 row of purls (don’t take this row into account for further work). Then, work with striped pattern.

In 49 cm (= 130 rows) from the set-up row, make decreases in the following way: 1 selvedge st, * 2 knit sts, knit2tog*; repeat from * to * x 7 times, then, * 1 knit st, knit2tog*; repeat from * to * x 13 times and again * 2 knit sts, knit2tog*; repeat from * to * x 7 times, 1 knit st, 1 selvedge st (= 79 sts).

In 50 cm (= 132 rows) from the set-up row, make 0,5 cm (= 2 rows) of garter stitch and then continue work with pearled pattern.

In 3 cm (= 8 rows) from garter stitch, bind off 1 x 3 sts from sides for arm-holes, then, 2 x 2 sts and 1 x 1 st in every 2nd row (= 63 sts).

In 25 cm (= 60 rows) from garter stitch, bind off 1 x 3 sts from both sides for shoulder chamfers, then, 1 x 3 sts and 3 x 4 sts in every 2nd row. At the same time as 1st decrease for shoulder chamfers, bind off the central 15 sts for neck-hole and finish both parts separately.

For smooth rounding, bind off 1 x 3 sts, 1 x 2 sts and 1 x 1 st in every 2nd row from inwards. In 28 cm (= 68 rows) from garter stitch, bind off all the sts.

Left Front

Cast on 68 sts and make the patterns alternation in the same way, as for back.

In 49 cm (= 130 rows) from the set-up row in the following way: 1 selvedge st, * 2 knit sts, knit2tog*; repeat from * to * x 7 times, * 1 knit st, knit2tog*; repeat from * to * x 6 times, 13 knit sts, 1 selvedge st (= 53 sts).

Make arm-hole from the right-side in the same way, as for back (= 45 sts).

In 21,5 cm (= 52 rows) from garter stitch, bind off 1 x 16 sts from the left side for neck-hole, then, 1 x 3 sts, 3 x 2 sts and 2 x 1 st in every 2nd row. While making the 1st decrease, place marker on the 12th st before the selvedge st. Make shoulder chamfer from the right side in the same way, as for back.

Right Front

Make in symmetry to the left front, make 2 holes for buttons x twice in the following way: 1 selvedge st, 4 sts of pearled pattern, bind off 6 sts, 4 sts of pearled pattern, bind off 6 sts. Cast on the bound off sts again in the next row, make 1st and 2nd holes in 7,5 cm (= 18 rows) from garter stitch, 3rd and 4th holes – in 16 rows.

Sleeves

Caston 67 stsandworkwithgarterstitch. In 16 cm (= 46 rows) from the set-up row, continue work with pearled pattern.

In 30 cm (= 72 rows) from garter stitch, bind off 1 x 3 sts from both sides for sleeve cap, then, 3 x 3 sts, 2 x 4 sts, 1 x 5 sts in every 2nd row.

In 36 cm (= 86 rows) from garter stitch, bind off the rest 17 sts.

Assembly

Makeshoulderseams. Cast on 130 sts along the straight edges of front and neck-hole to marker and make 1 WS row of knit sts. Then, bind off the sts as knit sts. Cast on 79 sts for collar between the marked sts with circle knitting needles and work with garter stitch.

In 5 cm (= 14 rows) from the beginning of collar, decrease 5 sts and in 7 cm (= 20 rows) decrease 3 sts (= 71 sts).

In 13 cm (= 38 rows) from the beginning of collar, increase 3 sts and in 15 cm (= 44 rows) from the beginning of collar, increase 5 sts (= 79 sts).

In 20 cm (= 58 rows) from the beginning of collar, bind off all the sts.

Fold the collar in half inwards and sew. Sew the buttons. Sew the snappers.

Sew up the sleeves.

Make sleeve and side seams.
