Introduction to Selvage Stitches
The quantity of stitches (sts) is a multiple of 20 plus 2 selvage stitches.
Instructions for Rows
Right Side (RS) Row
In the RS row: slip the first selvage stitch without knitting, make the last selvage stitch a knit stitch.
Wrong Side (WS) Row
In the WS row: slip the first selvage stitch without knitting, make the last selvage stitch a purl.

First Row
1st row: purl;
Second Row
2nd row: 1 selvage stitch, *yarn over, knit two together (knit2tog) through front loop, yarn over, knit two together from the left-hand needle*, 1 selvage stitch;
Third Row
3rd row: 1 selvage stitch, purl two together (pur2tog), 1 selvage stitch.
Repeating Rows
Repeat the 2nd and 3rd rows for continued pattern repetition.
