How to Knit a Stylish Sweater with Garter Stitch Patterns

You’ll Need:

100 (100) 150 g of olive 100% cotton yarn;

100 (100) 150 g of the same yarn, but in burgundy color;

100 (100) 150 g of the same yarn, but in brown color;

Knitting needles 3.5 mm.

Pattern of Long Stitches:

Insert RH knitting needle in the st of LH needle as for knit st, but twist the yarn around RH needle and make 1 knit st.

Garter Stitch:

Knit sts.

Stripes Order:

* 8 rows of garter stitch with olive yarn, 4 rows of garter stitch with brown yarn, 2 rows of garter stitch with burgundy yarn, 1 row of long sts with burgundy yarn, 3 rows of garter stitch with burgundy yarn, 4 rows of garter stitch with brown yarn*; repeat from * to *.

Stitches Control:

22 sts x 27 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions:

Back:

Cast on 90 (98) 108 sts and make 4 cm of garter stitch. Continue work according to the stripes order, repeating 3 times. Then, make 16 rows of garter stitch with olive yarn. Continue by following the stripes order. At 32 cm height, mark selvage sts for arm-holes. After making 176 rows, continue work with garter stitch using brown yarn. At 57 (58) 59 cm height, mark the central 38 (38) 42 sts with contrast yarn for neck-hole, then bind off these sts.

Front:

Make in the same way as back.

Assembly:

Make shoulder and side seams to the marked sts.
