Complete Sweater Knitting Instructions

You’ll Need:

4; 4; 5; 5; 6 skeins of 100% acryl yarn (306m/113g);

Circle knitting needles 4 and 5.5.

Chest circumference: 86.5; 96.5; 106.5; 117; 127 cm;

Length: 47; 47; 49.5; 51; 53.5 cm.

Used Patterns

• Stockinette stitch: 1 row of knit sts, 1 row of purls by turn;
• 2 x 2 rib;
• Cross 8 sts to the left: transfer 4 sts to the auxiliary needle in front of work, knit 4 sts, knit 4 sts from the auxiliary needle;
• Cross 8 sts to the right: transfer 4 sts to the auxiliary needle behind work, knit 4 sts, knit 4 sts from the auxiliary needle.

Stitches control: stockinette stitch with knitting needles 4: 22 sts x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions

Back

Cast on 94; 104; 116; 126; 138 sts with knitting needles 4 and work with stockinette stitch to 15; 15; 16.5; 16.5; 18 cm. The last row of this stage is WS. Bind off 6; 7; 8; 9; 10 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows for the arm-holes. There are 82; 90; 100; 108; 118 sts left. Decrease 1 st from both sides in the next row. Repeat such decreases every 2^nd row until you have 72; 76; 84; 90; 96 sts. After 19; 19; 20.5; 21.5; 23 cm from the first decrease for the arm-hole, bind off the sts.

Left Front

Cast on 2 sts with knitting needles 4.

1^st row: 1 knit st, 2 sts out of 1 st – through upper and lower loops;

2^nd row: purls;

3^rd row: knit sts to the last st, 2 sts out of 1 st. Total: 4 sts.

Repeat 2^nd and 3^rd rows x 20; 26; 32; 38; 42 times. At the same time, at 15; 15; 16.5; 16.5; 18 cm height from the lower row, create arm-holes per the description of the back. You should have 13; 16; 20; 24; 25 sts left. Knit straight. Bind off the sts for the arm-holes at 19; 19; 20.5; 21.5; 23 cm from the beginning of decreases.

Right Front

Make in reflection to the left front.

Sleeves

Cast on 82; 82; 86; 90; 94 sts with knitting needles 4 and make 6.5 cm of 2 x 2 rib. Then, switch to stockinette stitch. Make 1.5; 1.5; 2.5; 4; 5 cm with this pattern. Bind off 6; 7; 8; 9; 10 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows of the sleeve cap. There are 70; 68; 70; 72; 74 sts remaining. Then, decrease 1 st from both sides in RS rows until you reach 60; 54; 54; 54; 52 sts.

Now, decrease 1 st in every row from both sides until 16 sts remain. Bind off 2 sts at the beginning of the next 4 rows.

Bind off the remaining 8 sts.

Cord for the Left Front

Cast on 26 sts with 2 threads of yarn and knitting needles 5.5.

1^st row: knit;

2^nd row: 8 purls, 6 knit sts, 8 purls, 4 knit sts;

3^rd-6^th rows: repeat 1^st-2^nd rows x twice;

7^th row: 4 knit sts, cross 8 sts to the left, 6 knit sts, cross 8 sts to the left;

8^th row: 8 purls, 6 knit sts, 8 purls, 4 knit sts.

Repeat 1^st-8^th rows up to 68.5; 68.5; 71; 73.5; 76 cm height from the 1^st row. Transfer the sts to the auxiliary needles.

Make a cord for the right front in reflection to the left, making a cross of 8 sts to the right instead of to the left.

Assembly

Sew up the shoulders.

Sew the sleeves. Make sleeve and side seams.

Sew cords to the left and right front, and the bottom of the back.
