Step-by-Step Guide to Creating a Beautiful Wool-Acryl Plaid with Garter and Stockinette Stitch

You'll Need

400g of yarn (50% wool, 50% acryl; 55m/50g);

Knitting needles 4 and 4.5.

Size

60 x 67 cm.

Used Patterns

  • Garter stitch: all knit sts;
  • Stockinette stitch: in right-side rows - knit sts, in wrong-side rows - purls;
  • 1 x 1 rib;
  • "Grain" pattern: due to the scheme.

Stitches Control

On "grain" pattern with knitting needles 4.5: 18 sts x 23 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions

The center of the plaid is made as one-piece work. Cast on 105 sts with knitting needles 4.5 and knit 42 rows: 35 sts - "grain" pattern, 35 sts in alternation of 6 sts of rib, 6 sts of stockinette stitch, 35 sts - "grain" pattern. Knit 42 rows, changing squares, then 42 rows, as first.

After the last 3rd row square for the edge, continue with knitting needles 4, i.e., increase 1 st x 3 from both sides in every 4th row and knit: * 4 rows of garter stitch, 2 rows of stockinette stitch*; repeat from * to * twice. Bind off the sts.

Cast on 75 sts from each of 3 sides. Knit according to the previously described scheme. Sew the corners.
