Crochet ear warmers are like a cozy hug for your ears on chilly days! They come in all sorts of colors and designs, making it easy to find the perfect one to match your style. Not only are they super cute and fashionable, but they also keep your ears toasty warm when the wind is nipping at them. Whether you're out for a winter stroll or just running errands, these snug little accessories are a must-have for the colder months. Plus, they're handmade with love, adding an extra touch of warmth to your outfit!

Materials Needed:

Worsted weight acrylic yarn ('I Love This Yarn' brand recommended)
5.5 mm crochet hook

Pattern Instructions:

Starting Chain: Begin by making a chain that is long enough to fit around your head. (For reference, a head circumference of about 21.5 inches was mentioned, and approximately 76 chains were made).

Row 1 (Setup Row):
In the second chain from the hook, create the first half double crochet (HDC).

To do this:

Yarn over, insert your hook into the second chain.
Yarn over again and pull through the chain. You will have three loops on your hook at this point.
Yarn over once more and pull through all three loops on the hook.
Continue to make one HDC in each chain along the starting chain.
By the end of this row, you should have a total of 75 HDCs.
Checking Fit: After completing Row 1, measure the piece around your head to ensure it fits comfortably without needing to stretch it.

Row 2:

Begin this row with a chain one (ch 1), and turn your work.

For this row, and every row hereafter, you will work HDCs into only the back loop of each stitch to create a ribbing effect and add stretchiness to the headband.
Yarn over, and insert your hook into the back loop of the first stitch of the previous row, complete the HDC as usual.

Continue making one HDC in the back loop only of each stitch across the row. You will still have 75 HDCs in this row.
Subsequent Rows: Repeat the instructions for Row 2 for every row, maintaining the same stitch count of 75 HDCs. No increasing or decreasing is needed, just ensure to chain one and turn at the end of each row.

Total Rows: Continue the pattern for a total of 13 rows, or until you've reached the desired width of your headband.

Finishing:

At the end of Row 13, chain one, then cut your yarn, leaving about a 10-inch tail for sewing.
Lay the headband flat, fold the edges towards one another, and then fold them inward.

Overlap the folds on top of each other, ensuring they are evenly matched.

Sew the overlapped sections together, making sure your sewing needle goes through all four layers, weaving back and forth until the seam is secure.
Tie off and weave in any remaining yarn tails.

Completing the Headband:

Once all ends are woven in, flip the headband right side out.
The seam you've created will have a knotted effect in the middle, adding a decorative touch to the headband.
