Materials:

Yarn: 106 yards of #5 Bulky Weight – Example uses 1 skein of ThreadHead Knits Co. Squish Bulky in Autumn Leaves or suitable substitute

  • Hook: US Size (L/11) 8.0 mm crochet hook (or size needed to obtain gauge)
  • Other Tools: Yarn Needle, Scissors

  • Adult 9.5” x 4” (flat) – fits head circumference 21-22”

Gauge:

  • 5 sc sts x 4 rows of pattern = 2”/5 cm

Stitches/Abbreviations: US Terms

  • ch – chain
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • st (s) – stitch(es)
  • sc – single crochet
  • sk – skip

Notes:

  • This is worked in the round to form a long tube and then seamed.
  • Ch 1 does not count as a stitch.
  • Join each round with a slip stitch.
  • Adjust circumference by working more or less rounds than the stated 39 rounds.
  • Adjust width by working the beginning chains in a multiple of 4.

Instructions: Double Layer Crochet Ear Warmer

Ch 24, join to first ch.

Round 1: Ch 1, (sc, ch 1, sc) in first, sk 1, sc in next, sk 1, *(sc, ch 1, sc) in next, sk 1, sc in next, sk 1; repeat from * around, join to first ch-1 sp made, – 18 sc, 6 ch sps.

Rounds 2-39: Ch 1, (sc, ch 1, sc) in same ch-1 sp as join, sk 1, sc in next, sk 1, *(sc, ch 1, sc) in ch-1 sp, sk 1, sc in next, sk 1, repeat from * around, join to first ch-1 sp made – 18 sc, 6 ch sps.


Finishing:

Fasten off leaving a tail for seaming.

Using your yarn needle, seam the ends of the tube together using the mattress stitch or preferred method.

Weave in ends.
