You’ll Need:

200g of black Himalaya Pablo yarn (100% wool; 100m/100g);

Crochet hook 3.75.

Head Circumference: 52-54 cm.

Instructions

Make 23 chains. Work with single crochets through the back loop for better shape of the pattern. At first, make 1 square.

Pattern Rows:

1st row: 11 single crochets, 3 single crochets together, 11 single crochets;

2nd row: 10 single crochets, 3 single crochets together, 10 single crochets;

3rd row: 9 single crochets, 3 single crochets together, 9 single crochets;

4th row: 8 single crochets, 3 single crochets together, 8 single crochets;

5th row: 7 single crochets, 3 single crochets together, 7 single crochets;

6th row: 6 single crochets, 3 single crochets together, 6 single crochets;

7th row: 5 single crochets, 3 single crochets together, 5 single crochets;

8th row: 4 single crochets, 3 single crochets together, 4 single crochets;

9th row: 3 single crochets, 3 single crochets together, 3 single crochets;

10th row: 2 single crochets, 3 single crochets together, 2 single crochets;

11th row: 1 single crochet, 3 single crochets together, 1 single crochet;

12th row: 3 single crochets together. You should get a square.

Creating the Hat Base:

Then, make the next square according to the scheme. You should have 6 squares in the 1st row. While making the last square, join it to the set-up row of the 1st square, forming a circular stripe in the ring. This is the base of your hat.

Make the next 2 rows in the same way. You should get a “tube” about 24 cm in height.

Making the Crown:

Then, make the crown. For this, make 66 single crochets along the upper edge of the last row. Then, work with turning rows with single crochets through the back loop, decreasing 6 stitches in every row (by means of making 2 single crochets together). Work this way until there are 6 stitches left.

Cut the yarn, tighten the remaining stitches with the end of the yarn, and fasten the yarn from the wrong side. Finally, fasten the edge of the hat with a “shrimp stitch.”

Right off the bat, I have an issue with first row… Chain 23, then start first row of 11 sc, 3 sctog, 11 sc.  The stitch count comes to 25, so you are short 2 stitches right from the start.  The diagram «dots» and «x's» do not agree with stitch counts described in each row...Then the explanation for moving to the next «Square» is vague — (says to «Then, make the next square due to the scheme.»)  Very poorly written pattern.....maybe its so you can't actually do the project....
