Complete Guide to Crocheting a Stylish Giava Yarn Garment with Relief Pattern

You’ll Need:

650 (700) 750g of grey Giava yarn (71% viscose, 29% linen; 105m/50g);

Crochet hook 4.

Size:

S (M) L.

Used Patterns:

Relief pattern: the quantity of stitches is multiple of 4 + 2. Work according to the scheme. Start every row with 1 or 3 chain stitches increase instead of 1st double crochet and stitches before pattern repeat, pattern repeat, finish with stitches after pattern repeat.

Make 1st-7th rows once, then, repeat 2nd-7th rows.

Stitches Control:

Relief pattern: 17 stitches x 12.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm;

8 rows of single crochets = 4 cm in height.

Instructions:

Back/Front:

Make 82 (90) 98 chain stitches + 1 chain stitch increase and work with the relief pattern. In 30.5 cm = 38 rows from the set-up row, decrease 1 stitch from both sides for better fitting (= knit 2 together) and 3 x 1 stitch in every 6th row = 74 (82) 90 stitches. In 58.5 cm = 73 rows from the set-up row, decrease 8 stitches from both sides for arm-holes (= make slip stitch above them in the beginning of the row, leave them open at the end of the row) = 58 (66) 74 stitches. In 72 cm = 90 rows (74.5 cm = 93 rows) 77 cm = 96 rows from the set-up row, leave the central 36 stitches for the neck-hole and finish both sides separately, making only single crochets (repeat 1st and 2nd rows or 2nd and 3rd rows of the pattern). Finish your work at 4 cm = 8 rows height of neck-hole or in 76 cm = 98 rows (78.5 cm = 101 rows) 81 cm = 104 rows from the set-up row on the rest 11 (15) 19 stitches of shoulder from each side.

Sleeves:

Make 46 (54) 62 chain stitches + 1 chain stitch increase and work with the relief pattern. For sleeve chamfers, increase 2 x 1 stitch in every 4th row and 6 x 1 stitch in every 2nd row = 62 (70) 78 stitches, include the increased stitches in the pattern. Finish your work in 21 cm = 26 rows from the set-up row.

Assembly:

Make shoulder seams. Sew up the sleeves, and make side and sleeve seams. Fasten neck-hole with 1 circle row of single crochets and “shrimp stitch,” making 2 single crochets together in the 1st circle row in corners of the neck-hole and skip 1 single crochet of the previous row “shrimp stitch” after every stitch in the 2nd circle row. Fasten lower edge and sleeves' edges with 1 row of “shrimp stitch.”
