Joining With Single Crochet (SC)

When instructed to join with sc, begin with a slip knot on hook, insert hook in stitch or space indicated, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and draw through both loops on hook.

Dishcloth Instructions

Yoke

Rnd 1: (Right Side) With Red, ch 8, join with sl st to first ch to form a ring; ch 1, 16 sc in ring; join with sl st to first sc. (16 sc)

Rnd 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in the same stitch as joining, ch 2, skip the next sc, [2 dc in the next sc, ch 2, skip the next sc] around; join with sl st to first dc. (16 dc and 8 ch-2 spaces)

Rnd 3: Ch 2 (counts as first hdc), hdc in the same stitch as joining, 2 hdc in the next dc, ch 2, [2 hdc in the next 2 dc, ch 2] around; join with sl st to first hdc. (32 hdc and 8 ch-2 spaces) Finish off and weave in ends.

Rnd 4: With right side facing, join Pink with sc to any ch-2 space, sc in the same space, sc in the next 4 hdc (mark 3rd sc), [2 sc in the next ch-2 space, sc in the next 4 hdc] around; join with sl st to first sc. (48 sc) Finish off and weave in ends.

Rnd 5: With right side facing, join White with sc to the marked stitch in Rnd 4, sc in the same stitch, sc in the next 5 sc, [2 sc in the next sc, sc in the next 5 sc] around; join as before. (54 sc)

Rnd 6: With right side facing, join Green with sc to the same stitch as joining, sc in the next 13 sc, [sc in the next sc, ch 3] 13 times, sc in the next 15 sc, [sc in the next sc, ch 3] 13 times, sc in the next sc; join as before. (56 sc and 26 ch-3 spaces) DO NOT FINISH OFF.

Skirt

Row 1: With right side facing (wrong side together), fold Yoke in half, matching solid sc stitches, sl st in corresponding sc on the other side, working through both thicknesses, [ch 3, sl st in the next sc] 13 times. Leave remaining stitches unworked. (13 ch-3 loops)

Rows 2-13: Ch 5, turn, sc in the first ch-3 loop, [ch 3, sc in the next loop] 12 times. (13 ch-3 loops)

Row 14: Ch 2, turn, 2 dc in the first sc, [(sl st, ch 2, 2 dc) in the next sc] across, sl st in the 2nd ch of turning ch. Finish off and weave in ends. (13 shells)
