Joining with Single Crochet
When instructed to join with sc, begin with a slip knot on the hook, insert the hook in the stitch or space indicated, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and draw through both loops on the hook.
To Change Colors
Work the last stitch before the color change to the last step; with the new color, yarn over and pull the new color through the remaining loops on the hook. Drop the unused color to the wrong side. Do not work over the unused color.

Row 2: With Color B, ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), turn, skip the first dc, dc in the next dc, * long-dc into the corresponding skipped ch of Row 1, dc in the next 2 dc, ch 1, skip the next dc, dc in the next 2 dc; rep from * across, ending with long-dc into the corresponding skipped ch of Row 1, dc in the next 2 dc. Change to Color C.
The following Rows form the pattern. The color sequence is: (Color C, Color A, Color B) repeated.
Row 3: Ch 3, turn, skip the first dc, dc in the next dc, * ch 1, skip the next dc, dc in the next 2 dc, long-dc, dc in the next 2 dc; rep from * across, ending with ch 1, skip the next dc, dc in the next 2 dc. Change Color.
