Easy Crochet Tote Bag Pattern

You’ll Need
1 ball of Red Heart® Super Saver® (7 oz/198 g; 364 yds/333 m) in Contrast A Bright Yellow (0324);
1 ball of the same yarn, but in Contrast B Soft White (0316);
Crochet hook 5 mm;
Tapestry needle.
Size
Approx 16” [40.5 cm] wide x 18" [45.5 cm] tall.
Stitches Control
13 sc x 15 rows = 4" [10 cm].
Instructions
Note: Ch 2 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.
Back and Front
With B, ch 13.
1st row: (RS). 1 dc in 4th ch from hook (counts as 1 dc). 1 sc in each of the next 9 ch. 4 dc in last ch. Working into the opposite side of the chain, 1 dc in each of the next 10 ch. Turn.
2nd row: Ch 2. 2 dc in the first stitch. 1 dc in each of the next 7 stitches. 2 dc in each of the next 8 stitches. 1 dc in each of the next 7 stitches. 2 dc in the last stitch. Turn. (34 sts).
3rd row: Ch 2. 1 dc in each of the next 12 stitches. 2 dc in each of the next 10 stitches. 1 dc in each of the last 12 stitches. Turn. (44 sts).
4th row: Ch 2. 2 dc in the first stitch. 1 dc in each of the next 42 stitches. 1 sc in the last stitch. Turn. (46 sts).
5th row: Ch 2. 1 dc in each of the next 12 stitches. 2 dc in each of the next 22 stitches. 1 dc in each of the last 12 stitches. Turn. (68 sts).
6th row: Ch 2. 2 dc in the first stitch. 1 dc in each stitch to the last stitch. 2 sc in the last stitch. Turn. (70 sts).
7th row: Ch 2. 1 dc in each stitch to the end of the row. Turn.
8th row: Ch 2. (2 dc in the next stitch. 1 dc in the next stitch) 9 times. 1 dc in each of the next 34 stitches. (2 dc in the next stitch. 1 dc in the next stitch) 9 times. Turn. (88 sts).
9th and 10th rows: As 7th row. Break B. Join A.
11th to 13th rows: Ch 2. 1 dc in each stitch to the end of the row. Turn. Turn to work along the top edge. Work 2 sc in each row along the edge. (52 sts). Fasten off.
Assembly
With WS tog, place Front on top of Back. With A, working through both thicknesses, sl st curved edge of Tote together.
When you reach the top opening of the bag, work around the circumference of the opening as follows:
1st rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each stitch around. Join with sl st to the first sc.
2nd rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each of the first 6 stitches. Ch 40. Skip the next 40 stitches. 1 sc in each of the next 12 stitches. Ch 40. Skip the next 40 stitches. 1 sc in each of the last 6 stitches. Join with sl st to the first sc.
3rd rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each of the first 6 sc. 1 sc in the next ch. 1 hdc in the next ch. 1 dc in each of the next 36 ch. 1 hdc in the next ch. 1 sc in the next ch. 1 sc in each of the next 12 stitches. 1 sc in the next ch. 1 hdc in the next ch. 1 dc in each of the next 36 ch. 1 hdc in the next ch. 1 sc in the next ch. 1 sc in each of the next 6 stitches. Join with sl st to the first sc.
4th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each of the next 7 stitches. 1 hdc in the next stitch. 1 dc in each of the next 36 stitches. 1 hdc in the next stitch. 1 sc in each of the next 14 stitches. 1 hdc in the next stitch. 1 dc in each of the next 36 stitches. 1 hdc in the next stitch. 1 sc in each of the last 7 stitches. Join with sl st to the first sc. Fasten off.
Top Triangles
Make 4.
With A, ch 4.
1st row: 1 dc in 3rd ch from hook. 1 dc in last ch. Turn. (2 sts).
2nd row: Ch 2. 2 dc in each stitch. Turn. (4 sts).
3rd row: Ch 2. 2 dc in the first stitch. 1 dc in each of the next 2 stitches. 2 dc in the last dc. Turn. (6 sts).
4th row: Ch 2. 2 dc in the first stitch. 1 dc in each stitch to the last stitch. 2 dc in the last stitch. Turn. (8 sts).
5th to 9th rows: As 4th row. (18 sts). Fasten off, leaving a long tail.
Bottom Triangles
Make 4.
Work from the 10th row: Ch 1. 1 sc in the first stitch. 1 hdc in each of the next 3 stitches. 1 sc in each of the next 10 stitches. 1 hdc in each of the next 3 stitches. 1 sc in the last stitch. Fasten off, leaving a long tail.
Seeds
Make 8.
With B, ch 4.
1st row: Sl st in the 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in the next ch. (1 hdc. 1 sc) all in the next ch. Fasten off, leaving a long tail.
