Easy Crochet Hat Pattern with Visor

You’ll Need:

4 skeins of grey yarn (85% wool, 15% mohair; 60m/50g);

Crochet hook 7.

Head Circumference: 54/55 (56/57) cm.

Note: Finish every circle row with 1 slip stitch in the 1^st stitch from the beginning of the circle row. Start every row with 1 chain stitch increase.

Instructions

Make a small double ring and begin the 1^st row behind the ring.

Hat Body

1^st row: 6 single crochets behind the ring (6 stitches);

2^nd row: 2 single crochets in every stitch (12 stitches);

3^rd row: *1 single crochet, 2 single crochets in the next stitch*; repeat from * to * (18 stitches);

4^th row: *2 single crochets, 2 single crochets in the next stitch*; repeat from * to * (24 stitches);

5^th row: *3 single crochets, 2 single crochets in the next stitch*; repeat from * to * (30 stitches);

6^th row: *4 single crochets, 2 single crochets in the next stitch*; repeat from * to * (36 stitches).

Continue this way, increasing 6 stitches in every row until there are 114 (120) stitches in the work. After that, make 2 rows of 1 single crochet in every stitch. Then, make all the following rows with single crochets, decreasing 6 stitches in each row until you reach 54 (60) stitches. Finally, make 2 rows of single crochets through the back loops of the stitches. Cut and fasten the yarn.

Visor

Work on 27 (30) stitches of the front side of the hat (in the middle):

1^st row: Attach double yarn and make 27 (30) single crochets, turn;

2^nd row: Skip the 1^st stitch, make 25 (28) single crochets, turn;

3^rd row: Skip the 1^st stitch, make 23 (26) single crochets, turn.

Repeat the 3^rd row until there are 17 (20) stitches in the work, then turn.

Next row: Skip the 1^st stitch, 2 slip stitches, 11 (14) single crochets, and 1 slip stitch. Turn.

Last row: Skip the 1^st stitch, 2 slip stitches, 8 (11) single crochets, 1 slip stitch, cut and fasten the yarn.

Make 1 row of single crochets along the edge of the visor.

Make a pompom (7 cm diameter) and sew it onto the hat.
