Stitches Control:

  • Fancy Pattern A: 18 stitches x 8 rows = 10 x 10 cm;
  • Fancy Pattern B: A motif = 12 cm wide, 12 rows = 10 cm height.

Instructions

Work as a one-piece cloth, starting from the left sleeve. Make 63 (69) chain stitches with crochet hook 3.5 and then work with Fancy Pattern A, making increases according to Scheme 1 from both sides = 60 (66) double crochets in the first row.

In 22 cm = 18 rows from the set-up row, finish the sleeve. Continue work on 109 (115) stitches for the back and left front and work with Fancy Pattern B, making increases in the first row from both sides: 4 x 9 stitches, 1 x 18 stitches, 5 x 9 stitches, and 1 x 18 stitches in every 2nd row (due to Scheme 1). Then, continue work on 217 (241) stitches = 36 (40) motifs.

In 40 (43) cm = 39 (43) rows from the set-up row, work in the first 18 (20) motifs, making decreases according to Scheme 2 for the back neck-hole. In 24 (27) cm = 29 (33) rows from the beginning of the neck-hole, leave stitches. Continue work on the last 18 (20) motifs of the left front, decreasing 4 motifs from the right side for neck-hole according to the scheme. In 15 (16.5) cm = 18 (20) rows from the beginning of the neck-hole, bind off stitches. Left front is ready, leaving 13 (16) motifs remaining.

Make 87 (101) chain stitches and work with Fancy Pattern B, starting according to Scheme 2. In 15 (16.5) cm = 18 (20) rows from the beginning of the neck-hole, you will get 16 (18) motifs, make 6 chain stitches at the end of the last row, then, make 1 slip stitch in the back neck-hole (see Scheme 2) and bind off stitches. Then, work on motifs of the back and right front = 36 (40) motifs.

In 11 (13) cm = 13 (17) rows from the end of the neck-hole, decrease 1 x 18 stitches, 4 x 9 stitches, 1 x 18 stitches, and 5 x 9 stitches in every 2nd row from both sides. For decreases, make 1 slip stitch in every decreased stitch from both sides of the first row. For the right sleeve, continue work on the remaining 109 (115) stitches with Fancy Pattern A according to Scheme 3. The sleeve is finished after the last row of the scheme.

Assembly

Make 1 row of “crab stitch” with crochet hook 3 along the edge of the front and neck-hole, make sleeve and side seams. Sew buttons.

Thank you for sharing this pattern, for this beautiful sweater!  I would love to make it, however; my brain does not understand the directions.  Is there a video, maybe?  Thank you again!
