Knitting a Cozy Cashmere Sweater



You’ll Need:
100 (125)g of anthracite yarn (100% cashmere wool; 115m/25g);
175 (200)g of the same yarn, but in grey color;
Knitting needles 4;
Double pointed knitting needles 6.

S (M).
Used Patterns
Stockinette Stitch
In RS row - knit stitches, in WS row – purls. In round rows, all knit stitches.
Wrong-Side Pattern
In RS row - purls, in WS row – knit stitches. In round rows, all purls.
Rib Pattern
2 stitches of stockinette stitch, 2 stitches of garter stitch.
Garter Stitch
In RS and WS rows: knit stitches. In round rows: *1 row of knit stitches, 1 row of purls*.
Patent Edge
RS row: slip 3 knit stitches; WS row: 3 purls.
Stitches Control
Rib: 23 stitches x 32 rows = 10 x 10 cm;
Stockinette stitch: 21 stitches x 27 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Note:
The front and back consist of one long stripe, where the color of the yarn is changed. Starting from the back, the stripe twists around the upper part of the body, crossing the front and turning to the back.
Instructions
Front and Back
Cast on 68 (84) stitches with knitting needles and grey yarn and work with rib from both sides between 3 stitches of patent edge. In 90 (95) cm = 288 (304) rows from the set-up row, work with rib using anthracite yarn. In 90 (95) cm = 288 (304) rows from color change, bind off all stitches.
Sleeves
Cast on 52 (60) crossed stitches with double grey yarn for each sleeve and work with stockinette stitch. In 8 rows from the set-up row, increase 1 stitch from both sides for chamfers, then, increase 12 x 1 stitch in every 8th row = 78 (86) stitches. In 42 cm = 112 rows from the set-up row, bind off all stitches.
Assembly
Place the stripe according to scheme A – front and scheme B – back as a double loop, with the anthracite stripe above the grey stripe. Connect the initial and bound off edges with a “stitch in stitch” seam. Sew the upper and lower parts of the back, starting from the middle to 19 (21) cm from each side to the upper and lower sides. Make sleeve seams.
